Cross-platform - dare I hope?

Now I'm certainly not holding my breath, but I've always been convinced that Microsoft was the reason cross-platform didn't happen at launch.

What do we think the odds are that they've finally learned how to play nice, at least once Windows 10 comes out?

Easily the biggest obstacle I see is that they've already got many PC players to buy a console clone. They'd have to refund an awful lot of $20s.

For new games I think it could happen a lot. The new fable for instance. For this game it would be way way way down the road. The whole game would have to be re-coded.

Yes, and short-term this would indeed cost them. Long-term though, how many people are going to stick around if they have no friends to play with? I'm willing to bet that consoles will see the same population drop PC did real soon.

Yeah Microsoft will never allow x play, because they want money from the players\devs, thats the reason ff14 isnt on Xbox

Almost every game ever created has seen a huge drop in their player base not long after release. And all healthy MMOs fluctuate greatly in player populations in between release and xpac releases. I'd say your statement is pretty safe, but it's not an indication of anything other than things going as they usually go.

Yeah, I get that, but is there another MMO that's so divided in terms of population? Especially one that's so popular? You've got three platforms. Each of those is split between NA and EU. You then have the three factions. All this means is that you literally have a 5.5(recurring)% chance of being able to play with a friend (1/3/2/3).

Combine the platforms and that number triples to 16.6(recurring)% (1/2/3). You can even throw in an oceanic server to assuage the Aussies that screw up NA with night capping and all that jazz. 1/3/3 = 11.1(recurring)%.

Actually, you know what? Those numbers are misleading. It's pretty easy to choose a faction your friends are on. Heck, you can just roll an alt. Even with servers, you can just choose to play on another one. Depending on where you are the lag might not even be that bad. This platform division is literally the only thing stopping me playing with the three or four PS4 friends I have, as I simply cannot afford to buy that platform as well as the new PC I need.

I hate that word integrated.
Normally means tacked on and bodged with bad efficiency and bad performance.
Like running wine on Linux.

I hope the windows10 xbox live marriage is a ground up rebuild from scratch
