Seeking your perspective on something.
Would you prefer if the Platinum trophy were unlocked when you hit Rank 50 in Aliance War Ranking instead of Emperor?
Since that way everyone would have access to it.

Yes because then it's rewarding people who've spent a TON of time in PVP, not everyone will get it but the people who do want it have the option to pvp a lot and get it, emperor on the other hand is RNG extreme

I don't think it's fair that my doctor makes more money than me, even if he DID put in all the years to go to school. Nerf Doctors and Buff scrubs plz
Trophy-*** will be Trophy-***.
sorry, you don't get to shortcut this one.
want Platinum? Become Emperor.
there is nothing wrong with this requirement. it's perfectly fine if not EVERY SINGLE PERSON WHO OWNS A PS4 can get this.

Did your doctor get his exam results to say that the doctors before him spent more time studying despite getting a lower score so he passes and the other doesn't?

Maybe stop by the Alliance War forum and ask players there if they find Emperor or Rank 50 more difficult to attain.

one is possible even if it takes 500 hours, one can take 50,000,000 hours and still never be obtained, i go with option A

Playing for only 500 hours, you would have higher chance of making it to Emperor than to Rank 50.

So i play on the NA server from England, PVP is dead really up until 10pm UK time, it's active at around 5am the most, so i won't ever be able to complete with that, and that's fair?

I read it twice.
Everyone can become Emperor but they have to do the work to get it. It is a competition and the Trophy does not get given to the second place player.
Put in the necessary work and get the Trophy, or don't put in the necessary work and don't get the Trophy.

Then you have not actually put in the required work and are instead patting yourself on the back prematurely.

So answer me this, guy works 10 hours a day, guy is unemployed plays ESO all day, who will win?

Personally out of work on disability, and have never been Emperor.
By contrast, you can quite likely find people who work full time and have held the position. Despite the prestige hinted at by the name, there have been a ton of Emperors in the year since release.
The difference between me and them? I make excuses not to get Emperor, they get up and do it.

Well prob because you're unemployed you think like that to people who have little time in comparison.

But, for people that do "care"...well, maybe they (ZOS) just want the players to feel that sense of "accomplishment" that we (Us "Old Folks") used to feel waaaaay back in "ye olden times"...when we had to Earn things.
Had to earn things? Don't make me laugh. While not as old as you I still played early console and computer games where sometimes the challenge was figuring out what the buttons/keys actually did. We played for fun, for the experience, and mostly for curiosity. We did most of this with friends because these games were more difficult to come by and also to share all of the previous things with others. What did we actually earn? Cartography skills using grid paper?
That being said, in the modern age of games with trophies, achievements, and other methods of tracking progress it makes sense to allow players to work towards something. The emperor trophy is the complete opposite of this since you can be the best player but on the wrong alliance, or the best support/siege player and still never achieve this. Making it require attaining alliance rank 10 is far more plausible and still requires a ton of work. The difference is that you can work towards this goal over time and constantly monitor your progress. You still earn it, you just don't have to conform to a specific style of play to do so.
You would think as a trophy hunter you would want impossible trophies so when you get them you have bragging rights. Otherwise it's like a gold star on your homework. Also I could think of things they could replace it with but they obviously wanted an investment in PvP.
Possibly they could have read every book and collect every lore book in the game? How about 8 v14 characters? How many emperors could there be after two years with all the wars going on? Isn't Platinum supposed to be less than .1% of people?
