Why is it called "High Rock Gate"?

As you may know, then main hubs for us DC players in Cyrodiil are called North and South High Rock Gate. For AD, it's East and West Elsweyr Gate, makes sense, the bases are next to that province. For EP it's North and South Morrowind Gate, again, makes sense, the bases are right next to Morrowind.

Only for DC...

High Rock is nowhere near Cyrodiil. The DC bases are next to Hammerfell. Shouldn't they be called North and South Hammerfell Gates?

A minor gripe, I know, but I just realised this and find it perplexing.

Actually that gate connects to the in-game region of Craglorn, wich is a part of the reach and Hammerfell itself.
,,, Craglorn gate doesn't really roll off the tongue, i guess

I would say that they named it High Rock gate because it was the nearest region that gate linked to, being Craglorn just an empty road, the alliance war considered.

Yes, but Craglorn is part of Hammerfell, they named the Gates after provinces not specific regions of said provinces. Not sure why they picked High Rock for DC.

The roads from those gates probably lead directly to High Rock. In antiquity and the middle ages it wasn't uncommon to name roads, city gates, and bridges after what the road led to, even if that destination was many miles away.

They lead to southern Bangkorai, which is still Hammerfell.

Really? You've followed the roads on the map and they definitely don't end up in High Rock?

Definitely makes more sense than the Red Ring/Orange/Black/Blue/Gold/Green/Silver/Yellow road naming in Cyrodiil.

Blue Road isn't even long enough to technically host a marathon. The only feasible marathon is to run Red Ring Road maybe six and a half times.

Feels like a nice, dangerous Guild event to me.
