Are they going to make an Aussie mega server?

I'd like an Australian server for us Aussie's. Lag isn't really a problem for me but if it is like the posters above me described, that the game lags them to be on the same respond time as us then it's not fair for them or us.

Yes, that's most unfortunate. It would be really wonderful if we could get some sort of official response on just what happens when someone with a high latency/ping (<300 ms) groups with others of a low latency (<100 ms)

Another good question: WHY is this a continent!? I mean... Really?

The real question should be why are Europe and Asia separate continents when they share the same landmass by a huge margin.

I wonder why no one has created a business in Australia that offers servers to online games? Ive been playing online games for over ten years now and I've read countless forum threads asking the same thing: Aussie servers. There has to be money in it, yet no one has thought to start up a business? Gives me an idea...

There are servers for online games based in Australia (played cod, bf3, bf4 & moh allied assault on Australian servers). Just not for games like ESO & gw2.

You mean three of them? They'd have to have one for each platform.

Have you tried using BattlePing? Some Aussie Guildmates swear by it.

    ^ this.

....and coupled with the fact that the Tier 1 Carrier submarine cables to Australia are just bogus with stupid amounts of hops between points.

More than 75% of the traffic that comes into Perth back over the Singapore link feeds VIA Jakarta.. So unfortunately, Indonesia has sapped a good proportion of our bandwidth before it even hits us.

As for the east coast a big chunk of Cable makes its way up to Guam (PIPE, owned by TPG for example) where it hits another congested transport hub and goes on its merry way back to the US. There is only ONE subsea cable that makes a direct link between Sydney and California (APX-East) - Everything else hops via Hawaii or Auckland.

Uh, i'm Indonesian. What do you mean by "our" bandwidth exactly? What makes you think you're more important anyway? From console and game sales alone I believe there are more Indonesian playing ESO than Australian.

@Eelijve He never said at any point that Aussies are more important so I don't know where that accusation came from.

All he did was state some facts about how Australia's connection to overseas mega servers works and why bandwidth here can be fairly bad. The reason he used the term "our" referring to the bandwidth is because here in Australia it is our bandwidth. Just as there in Indonesia it's YOUR bandwidth.
He didn't mean "it's our bandwidth not theirs so why are they recieving most of it".
That's exactly what he meant by the term "our"..
Jeez dude. Don't take things so personally

We only want our fair share and no one is saying "let's take away from them so we can have more and equal things out"..
All we want is to be able to enjoy a game to the fullest of its advertised abilities while dealing with absolute minimum lag and server crashes and all of the negative things we have to deal with because we're playing on servers that are on the other side of the planet.

If your trolling then equally, your a d**k for making such a ridiculous comment with the intention of annoying people.
So what's the deal? Because we don't live where you do that makes us and our country inferior..

I thought it was a valid question :expressionless:

but yes bitey- puncturing-wrecking anything sucks at >350ms

Thought I doubt we'd have the population to warrant a server downunder.

    Hey Noomfy-Mop

I think you should not be worry of be OOR if you play on NA server for i have been around mmorpg since 2004 and most NA are for both NA and Australia and beside most people in ESO are very nice and friendly so i dont think you will have any problem or feel OOR also it is big different between MMORPG and battlefield.

I just want weapon swap to work reliably in pvp.. Sometimes the swap is really fast and crisp, other times it takes twice as long (and my swap-ability weave doesn't fire) or I have to mash the button repeatedly to get it to work. Apart from that the higher ping doesn't really bother me..

An ESO server in Straya Mate! Perhaps, but I wouldn't be surprised to see an Asian Oceanic server one day. Would this have enough population to fill all the ESO zones? Does ESO developers care about the Asian Oceanic market? They haven't responded to this post.......I also believe ESO PvE has a long way to go expanding into those locked areas on the map of Tamriel

With the way things are going I doubt there'll be more than a maximum of three megaservers a year from now... (PC/Mac, PS4, X-Box - unless the game gets shut down on console in the meantime, which looks to be a real possibility)

You're probably not experiencing much lag because ESO connects to a server, rather than having a peer-to-peer connection like Battlefield. This means that the server is handling the connection load, rather than the individual host's system and connection.

Now, I don't know why there isn't an Australian server, but I do know that your regulations on movies and video games are super strict, so maybe that's an explanation. Perhaps also Bethesda couldn't get rights to host a server there so you're stuck without.

Do you think you could elaborate a bit more when you say "unless the game on console gets shut down which looks to be a real possibility"..
So we've paid money for this game and (some of us) even got ESOplus not to mention the time invested and they're just going to shut it down (or at least are contemplating it)..

If that's the case it's definitive evidence that ZOS are in it for the money and NOT the gamers.
Which is a stupid comment, I know, no one does anything for free, least of all gaming companies, but that doesn't make things any more acceptable.

If the game really is as bugged and unplayable on console as is claimed in these forums, I wouldn't be surprised if ZOS decides to pull the plug on console in order to concentrate on saving the PC/Mac version of the game.

I really miss Australia, and in a lot of ways regret moving to the UK. But then I remember I have unlimited, non-throttled, faster, cheap Internet and feel a little better. Also, when Tony Abbott was declared as prime minister, it was a good indication to get the hell out of there.

That being said I'm almost willing to bet that every person (or close to every person) that has come onto these forums and had a whinge or complained that the game was unplayable has then logged out of the forums and continued playing the "unplayable" game.

Some people just need to vent, get a certain issue off their chest and/or hopefully figure out its not just them experiencing said issue.
And some people just whinge and complain purely because they can.

I hope your wrong about the whole pulling the console plug thing (though sadly I'm not saying that your are).
But if they really did go that far would they not receive even more complaints and with increasing frustration??

It's one thing to have to put up with bugs and glitches in a game.
It's another thing all together to have a game that you paid good money for and spent time playing revoked and not be able to play it at all.

    @CheeseDivinity
You couldn't be more right about the tony abbot situation.. Sadly though he was the lesser of 2 evils..
And an even sadder fact is that Australia hasn't had a decent leader in AT LEAST 20-25 years.. Probably even longer.

I know I'M not the capper because if its 12:00 A.M. ET, then in Australia it is 2:00 P.M. That leaves plenty of day light for Aussies to cap the NA server while its NIGHT TIME here in the Americas., ie Night cap (not sure of the tone in your statement) lol
