Excellent time for one of the following:
    • Read a book
    • Do PT (physical training ... you know, that running y'all like to do in the game ... but for real)
    • Make a grocery run
    • Walk the dog
    • Watch TV recordings you've saved up until now
    • Play another video game (there are lots out there)
    • Pray, read your religious book, or whatever your preference in that area

... or, just come here to post.

Sorry but haven't u come here to post? Perhaps follow your own advise :)

So you expect the developers to get up bright and early just so you can get on the game after work?

15 people to allow millions to play... Yes to your question... Motorway maintance do majority of work at night, so it's off peak time and doesn't affect majority... They will have all the coding ready so it's just upload time and initialising.

Are you serious you can't compare a game to motorway maintenance lol. Not to mention they are for ever doing something in the day anyway and make my journey take twice as long yet i don't moan about it because that's life.

I never seem to understand why people think that everything revolves around their time period.

In a game that has people from all over the world playing it, there is always someone that will be inconvenienced by when maintenance is preformed.

Get over yourself, you aren't any more important that any other person.

You clearly haven't grasped the concept were talking about. It's not the point there is maintance it's the fact it's at peak times you tool.... Stop being so judgment because you haven't read correctly. Peak times= bad for players = bad for EOS business...

The comparison was between 2 things busy at peak time so yes I can compare...

It is the EU server.. is it unreasonable to think that it might, I don't know, be run according to EU times? You know like when it is 12pm here in the UK, it is 1pm in France, 2pm in Germany etc ad nauseam

Or put it another way, if I was on the NA server, I wouldn't be all annoyed if maintenance was started at a stupid time of the day (for me) as it would be accommodating the NA players.. or is that too much common sense?

Thata not the point, he is basically saying that the EU server should be down for maintenance to accommodate the "majority" of EU players, while the NA should be done the same for them, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO SATISFY EVERYONE. We get that, but damn they could sure satisfy the "majority" by adjusting the times to suit the average server time. Dont need to have a go at anyone, just rwad and understand peoples views

This maintenance is happening during work hours of EST. It will be up by the time EST peak hours start.

That is why it is scheduled the way it is.

If you are in Europe this sucks because it started at 3:30 -5:30 pm and won't end until 9:30-11:30 pm. For us in the states it is perfect.

I bet there are more players on the NA servers than the EU servers.

It is peak time for YOU, @ryanmerry , not most players. YOU are the one that has not read correctly. It is not NA peak hours, in fact most of us are at work right now. EU peak hours? Sure. NA peak hours? Absolutely not.

At the end of the day they shouldn't do it at peak time.... Your all moaning about me writing this yet you wouldn't be reading this if you weren't interested in why there is maintance. End of story.

Well as others have said, no matter when they pop maintenance up, someone will be getting the "short end of the stick"secondly, maintenance is just a part of life for MMO players, a company must pull down to make sure everything is working right from time to time. Especially for a patch the server needs to come down so they can have a look at how it fares before letting all the players have a go at the new features/stuff. My advice: watch some youtube, relax, do your homework [if applicable, and wind down.

Sure. That's why I included it as an option.

Of course, posting simply to complain is another thing entirely, but that too is value-added, since it offers me amusement.

This is just one of those unavoidable problems. For me on PS4 the maintenance is when I'm at work, so it's perfectly timed for me. Even if it were during my prime time it's not like I'd want them to not do maintenance.

Avoidable downtime is much more important to me. I bought the game last Tuesday and downloaded the day-one 15GB patch, which took hours. I had a few hours of play time that night, and then the very next day they release a patch that forces you to download all prior patches again. Sony's CDN was so slow I couldn't play until I got home from work on Thursday (10-12 hour download), and all because they couldn't do progressive patches for some reason. At least I'm not on a capped plan. I was quite upset when my plans for a nice relaxing evening in Tamriel were foiled by bad planning/execution of the patch on their part.

It is always 4 AM somewhere in the world.... ;)

Exactly. No matter when they do maintenance someone will complain.

But this argument isn't over someone annoyed due to it happening, it's the fact it's the peak time.... Morning or night. Then everyone's happy...

There is not a complete thought to your original post for starters. Being your talking about the patch starting at 4:30 (I will assume you are meaning PM) yet the NA and console servers are set for morning NA time zones and far from 4:30 at that. The EU server maintenance seems to be set in the AM their time it seems like all is fine.

AM maintenance is normal and the best time to perform it. If you happen to be in an area far from the indigenous time some for the server operations it is unfortunate but something that is logical to not expect them to work around. Illogical to think they would.

The sooner people realize that not everyone is on the same time schedule the better. no matter what time they pop maintenance it will upset someone.

Just to update the thread, I am in the U.K and just now been able to log onto the server.
Considering they started at 15:30 B.S.T and I can now get on at 17:50 I really don't think nearly 2 and a half hours is too log a wait.
Me? I'm dishonest, and a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly. It's the honest ones you want to watch out for, because you can never predict when they're going to do something incredibly... stupid.

Keeping in mind...Different timezones means it is always a bad time for someone, it is stupid to have maintenance on both servers at once.

I think this is funny because you aren't getting the point. Different timezones equals different peak hours.

Obviously my point went over a lot of heads.

    Well whatever.

How many people the they have working on the servers? How much are they being paid? Are they working and getting paid overtime?

A buy-to-play model is fine but like all good online games you need a constant intake of revenue to be able to keep the game running. When the costs exceeds income you have a problem. It isn't always about peek times, many times it's about what is cost efficient for them.

People need to obviously get a life outside the game. Do something productive. FYI, complaining about things is usually counterproductive.

If you have to complain about a game being down for maintenance because you have nothing better to do you really don't have much of a life and I feel sorry for you.

When I see people complaining about a game being down because of maintenance, I see a person that isn't going to amount to much in life because they have no real ambition to do anything productive.

This really is a joke. Who in their right mind thinks of it's 4:30(where everyone finishes work and school) to bring out and update. Elderscrolls are you trying to get us all to stop playing your game? It's heading that way... Then 5 hours, bloody hell pay me half and I'll do it in an hour... Let's behonest it's going to be longer than 5 hours as you never meet your targets..... Then people that are already on get to keep playing??? I was on and got booted out and then bam maintance... Think you need to put your corporate heads together and sort yourselves out.

So single time zone minded. You should think bigger!!!
Seriously though....whats good for me is bad for you...no need for a forum rage :open_mouth:

We all expect maintenance...nobody is complaining that it is happening, they are complaining that it is happening DURING peak hours, which in my opinion is not the brightest idea...and to my knowledge the Devs are already at the company working "Bright and Early" as somebody put it...they are already up and at work when people are suggesting that the maintenance be done instead of DURING peak hours.

Peak hours for you are not peak hours for others, this being a spinning ball in space and whatnot.

For example, in much of the U.S. it is currently work hours on a Monday, so many players are working.

I'm not feeling as ranty about it, but they should stagger the maintenance between eu and na servers so people could still play. Hopefully they have chosen the time that disrupts the least amount of players.
