[Resolved] Can't pick up any disguises on any characters, blocking main story quests

"YOU ARE UNABLE TO PICK UP HSERVANT'S ROBES."
That's not a typo, unfortunately that's been the same message all of my characters get whenever they try to pick up any in-quest disguise items. The name will change per item, but it always has an H in front of it. It's weird, it started just after I upgraded to the Imperial Edition.
Essentially, this means I can't actually progress the storyline quest on my two Bretons, and I'm sure it will cause issues for the main story no matter what starting area I go with. I've so far spent more time trying to figure out this issue than I have playing the game. It's a lot of fun, but hell if I know if that continues past lvl 8.

✭✭✭✭✭Be sure to report it as a bug/send in an in game help ticket. If I recall correctly, this shouldn't block your progress, but will likely make the quests harder. Disguises are used to make some usually enemy NPC's into regular and you won't aggro them, I can't recall a quest where you absolutely HAD to put on the disguise.. you'll just have a lot more fighting to do.

fnarclopSoul ShrivenIf I'm not mistaken, the Spearhead quests in the Daggerfall aliance starting area require it. There's a specific quest that requires you to pick up the costume, and I can't seem to find a way around it. If I can bypass the requirement it won't be such a showstopper. I'll look into alternate methods.0

Ah yes, I always thought you could choose not to do that portion of the quest (as I'm sure you don't have to save everyone) but you could very well be right and that would be the main part of the quest you must do..

fnarclopSoul ShrivenIt's unfortunately the portion AFTER the rescues. You're right, you only need 2 to proceed, but then you have to bust into a mansion, and for that you need a disguise. I'm not sure if I can simply skip it or not, but it doesn't seem like the main story would proceed without it.0
