Made a Breton nightblade

Corvusguitarb14_ESO
Hello all,

For my first character in ESO i made a breton nightblade since the magicka cost redux was really attractive. I originally intended to go magic as it looks like all of the class skills do magic damage. As i'm getting closer to lvl 25 i notice i use a heavy attack from stealth almost every time i initiate combat and now i am worried i picked the wrong race, since bretons have nothing to do with stamina. My questions are this:

Do NBs usually go stamina end game even though all the class abilities work with magic?

And did i screw up being a breton with no stamina bonuses?

Also it's a little confusing with the weapon attacks. Does raising stamina increase weapon damage or just stamina skill damage?

Any help is much appreciated!

    1. For PvE there are both stamina and magicka NBs in endgame. You can morph some of the class skills to work with stamina(!)
    2. If you want to go stamina, yes. If magicka, no.
    3. What weapon are you using? Staves scale with magicka/spell DMG, the rest with stamina/weapon DMG.

    Thanks for the reply,

I've mainly been using bow lately. Since staves scale of magic it seems like that would be the best weapon to go with. Do heavy attacks from staves benefit from stealth?

Edit: And am i right in thinking spell damage will increase my class skills unless converted?

If you want to build a magicka NB, I would recommend using a staff. All the bow skills scale of stamina and if you max out your magicka, your bow skills will do small damage.

If you talk about the master assassin passive regarding the heavy attacks, it boosts both your weapon and spell damage.

    Rule-of-thumb is as follows:
If something costs magicka, it benefits from/scales with your max magicka and spell damage.
If something costs stamina, it benefits from/scales with your max stamina and weapon damage.
Ultimates scale of the highest of the two.

use veiled strike/concealed weapon from stealth instead, it will do a lot more damage and stun for longer than a heavy attack.

    This ^^

I think you can also cast a heavy attack from a staff from stealth, but I've never used a staff so you'll need to check that yourself.

Note that almost all class skills of a nightblade are based on Magicka and can be morphed into a more powerfull Magicka version or a quite similiar Stamina version. This means both options are viable in my opinion. I'm a Redgaurd NB myself, and therefor "stuck" with a stamina build for the remainder of the game.

I believe there are great magicka synergies to be had with both sorts of NB's, maybe there is some video on YouTube regarding this subject? That way you can see a viable build in action.

Breton NB is good for sap tank build. And sap tanks are pretty good in PvP. (build smth like this). But you'll need to use at least 5 heavy and 1h&sh.

I have Breton Magicka NB, and i love it. I love the build for its survivability. But if you use else than staves and magicka morphs of class skills, your choice of race is wrong.

I'd say magicka builds are more of a survivability in mind, rather than burst dps, which stamina builds often are.

I use desto / resto staff, 5 light 2 heavy armor with all attributes and gear enchantments to magicka + infused trait. Currently i'm V4 and have hefty 32k mana pool.

If i'd use stamina skills, i couldn't cast very many skills until i ran out of stamina. So stick with magicka skills / morphs.

As you see, i use magicka morphs and with speed buffs, + cloak, i can run away if i get in trouble.

    Desto Bar:

    1. Concealed weapon (faster when stealth / invisible + stun from stealth)
    2. Crippling grasp (DoT + speed buff)
    3. Pulsar (AoE + reduce 10% of max health)
    4. Sap essence (Heals allies + AoE)
    5. Shadow cloak (Removes DoT)
    6. Ultimate Soul tether

So if you use weapons, breton's passives are not really helpful nor useful. But as a pure magicka nb, breton is the best choice imo.

Hope this helps / clarifies even a little

Whats your resto bar look like?

I just rolled one last night to be a healer =P

Thanks for all of the suggestions! I have way more confidence moving forward now!

Veiled strike is massive awesome from stealth. With that and shadowy disquise i can really burn a single target down and since i'm going invis all the time i de agro adds. very smooth combat now! i thought i would play more from range with a staff but i feel like i am up in the thick of things even more now. juking and jiving in and out of stealth. i feel like impulse is going to be a huge boon in the future.

    1. Ward
    2. Rapid regeneration
    3. Double take (Blur morph from assassination skill line)
    4. Unstoppable (immovable morph from heavy armor skill)
    5. Dampen magic (Annulment morph from light armor skill)

I hit all of them when entering world boss or big fight. It really buffs armor and spell resistance.
