Found a path through the mountains from Eastmarch to the Rift that anyone can use.

Normally I need to use streak to pass through the invisible walls that surround zone. Finding a passage that one can walk or climb through is extremely rare, While questing in the Eastmarch, I found a passage that anyone can use, and video recorded where it is. As a bonus, I show how to get to the Rift within minutes.

Enjoy.

Like all your videos, this is another great one, thanks for posting :)
Acutally, what I'm wondering about is, why is there sooo much of the Rift and Riften although it's not the actual zone? Are there spots in the Eastmarch where you can see that with the highest distance view?
My distance view is at 20 at the moment, all distant land from other areas I see is f.e. the Mournhold Temple from Shadowfen; I've never seen Riften from the Eastmarch^^

Cool video! 'm new... so what is Riften? Is it a place only when you travel by boat or something?

I got caught in a big trolling contest with another poster who state that the ESO game engine loads geometry from the hard drive on demand. I did some testing and he is partially correct. ESO constantly steams about 212,000 bytes of object texture and geometry data from the directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online\depot

But ALL the terrain data is loaded with the zone. What the troller kept missing the point was that whether you see it or not, all of this data is stored on the disk taking up valuable storage. So if you can see a distance object, it is in your computer and video memory. The only thing that isn't is the high resolution texture map which loads when you approach the object.

You can can't see the Rift from Eastmarch because of the mountains. Here's a screenshots from the top of a mountain that I climbed in Eastmarch:

Riften is the main town located in the Rift. The Rift is a zone located in the Ebonheart Pact.

Thanks for the info, that's why I was asking :) Why are there so many things (terrain, objects) from "zones" we cannot even see, stored on the harddrive? I bet the ESO folder size would be much smaller if these areas got deleted. I can imagine even the size of some patches/updates would be a lot smaller.
I'm also still concerned about these "double layer" textures, which I posted a few months ago. By now I found a LOT more of these in other buildings. So much stuff in the game data we don't even see (or shouldn't be there).

Gotta say it now, keep posting these and you wont see them in the future. ZOS has been known to look for these paths and fix them once they've been found. Exploring off maps is rewarding in its own way though... Lets you see how much extra space the world takes up in each zone.

I'd say after a major patch check to see if many of these routes are still available. Many times they disappear as soon as they're found and advertised.

I wonder if only the "secret doors" disappear, or also the areas behind?
Not sure why we have to download (game/patch/update) so much stuff we can't even see.

I think they just add invisible walls to prevent us getting where we're not supposed to get.

OP, you may indeed want to be careful with posting those vids;)
    That said, nice discovery ^_^

Yeah, that's what I think, too.
But what's the point in keeping the areas behind when we cannot either see nor reach them (anymore)? It's a waste of harddrive space.

Since I been posting these (some I reported in beta), none have been close. I suspect that ZOS has higher priorities. The player cannot exploit these outer zones so there is no harm in allowing a player snoop around.

What baffles me is how inconsistent the invisible wall strategy is. Instead of just placing an invisible wall around the zone, the barrier seems to be attached to the objects themselves. In some cases the barriers are an invisible roof that doesn't allow you to climb any higher; I have a video of me walking on top of one. It looks like I'm walking on air.

I look at exploring the forbidden areas as end game content. Anyone try mountain climbing in Eastmarch yet? it's really challenging. I'll post a video if you guys want to see my mountain climbing skills.

I found a couple ways out that I know has been patched since update 4, at least in AD that I can think of.

@RSram Are you playing NA or EU? Got a guild with a couple friends for exploring Tamriel (EU), if you would be interested in sharing routes or anything like that we'd be more than happy to have you join us! (or anyone else who might be interested!)

NA in the AD. My Character is a Sorcerer level VR14 so I can explore any area. Unless your an Sorcerer with the streak ability, it can be really tough to navigate the forbidden zones. but I'm in. What do you have in mind? I have enough soul gems for a small group of players.

The last I checked Grahtwood access is still there.

Most likely to limit patch size on DLC drops. We get 2GB patches now, hopefully to save us from a 40GB patch later. Hopefully.

I understand that the invisible walls are to keep you from exiting the active zone, but there are a lot of mountains and rocks that you can't climb that are located in the middle of each zone. Why the developers decided not to allow access to these just boggles my mind?

Yeah, the invisible walls around a zone make sense, of course, but like you, I don't understand either why they are there in the middle of a zone. At so many spots it would theoretical be possible to climb the rocks, but then I just find myself gliding downwards again and walking around the rocks very annoyed.

Unlike in some dungeons where players often slip through the walls and cannot go back in (happened to me several times as well). What I mean is, the rocks are safe from being climbed (most of the time^^) by putting invisible walls there, but the walls in dungeons or houses are NOT safe from falling through because the collision box doesn't always work as intended. That's really some strange logic^^
