Does armor affects speed/agility movement?

I'm wondering if using a heavy armor makes my character slower or less agile than using a light or medium armor. I did great it and I didn't notice any notable difference while moving or rolling but I want confirmation.

What is the cons of using heavy armor then? Higher the armor higher the defense.

    Not directly.

Medium Armour has passives that allow you to roll more, sprint further and faster, move longer while sneaking.

Light Armour has passives that allow you to cast more spells, including mobility spells for some Classes (and Vampires).

Heavy Armour has passives that increase defense, but no really great passives for stat management which is tied to movement.

Thanks. That explains why someone would, choose a lower defense armor. But what about the player movement it self? Does a player move slower with heavy armor?

    No.

Move speed is largely standard but contains a few (non-armour-based) modifiers worth noting.

A character moves at 90% of full movement speed if he or she has a weapon drawn.
A character moves at 60% of full movement speed while sneaking (unless he or she is a vampire, or has a special gear set).

Otherwise the modifiers are Sprint (which fluctuates based on how much Medium Armour the character is wearing) or skills that provide speed buffs for a duration.

There is a passive available to all characters regardless of armour type at very high levels of Champion Points as well.

Sadly heavy armor is only viable for tanking and pvp because of the passives. Melee/Bow will only ever use medium armor and mages will only ever use light armor because the passives are just to good to pass up. I would like to see more stam bonuses built in to heavy armor but I know that will never happen.

Just saying I use medium armor on my magicka dk cause the extra stam regen and reduced dodge roll cost in Pvp are great.

    5med/2light

    Works out wonderfully.
