Unless it's 3am in the morning this isn't an issue I have and if the problem is there I don't see it a problem. If some random zone isn't that populated it just means not very many people are questing and are grinding or off doing something else. Questing is more of a solo thing, so this really doesn't hurt anything IMO.

Maybe a suggestion to ZOS: place bigger events (like Dolmens) in the game that bring more players together in a zone?

Knows the veteran zones can be fairly deserted. Usually the non vet zones are a hive of activity on pc. At least from my observations over the last 14 months. Pvp is another popular area for whatever percentage of players.

Yep as @Spectral_Lord said AD on PC (not sure if he is EU) but there is lots of players there , really nice to see, all good too.

When I ran my first char through it was a bit of a free for all , but I have introduced a couple of friends who are loving it and saying how helpful ppl are without being too intrusive , I'm also doing a new toon and have to say how nice it is to see ppl helping out but not just steamrolling stuff if they see you on a quest or delve.
Honestly didn't think I would see ppl hanging back unless they see my health dropping low , so thank you !

Even had a lot of ppl opening chests and leaving them if they don't need it , really good to see and makes the game so much nicer to play

I haven't played eso, since witcher 3 came out and probably won't come back until there's something new. Nothing against the game, I've just done everything I care to do and don't feel like repeating any more. I've probably gotten well over 1,000 hours of game play so far, more time than I've spent on any other game.

Really? Today, just now actually, I re-rolled one of my characters to the Aldmeri Dominion on PC. And there are still a lot of people running around there. Chat seems to be the most active there, too.

    What does that mean?

I was going to post this very thread like 2 days ago..

There is DEFINATLEY a drop in players from last week.
I know my guild list of actives has gone Waaaaaayyy down. There are also a lot of friends from my friends list are no longer playing the game.

Kinda makes me sad really because I want to be playing ESO for a long, loooong time.
A lot of the problem is there were so many people that just smashed the {A} button at every quest giver and never tried to follow the quest story line at all and are now either burnt out or reaching lvl 42ish with very little quest left to do and are forced to grind exp.

good lord man people leave an mmo after launch. That's part of it.

The second and even more obvious part is there is more and more separation of levels as you go.
EVERYONE was in the same place at launch.

Crud edited for...this is to say if you are playing on console.
On PC ESOTU brought back a bunch but now it's dropped a little. It's still an acceptable number imo. I hang in Reaper's March to fish sometimes and that place is hoppin all day long.

I noticed a drop in the density of players, but I am enjoying it. Less competition for resources, and I can actually hunt stealthily with my bow without some heavy armor clad person with a big sword and spikes coming out of their back showing up out of nowhere and slashing down my prey before running off. :p

No new content + it's summer (at least in the northern hemisphere).

I don't know about anyone else here, but I'm not sitting in front my computer for 2-4 hours a day when it's warm and sunny outside.

I save that for winter when the weather sucks.
That is why I have yet to understand why in the world the console players have waited years and years for a real console MMO and we get not one, but TWO released to us back to back In the SUMMER!? I mean what the heck?

This game and Never winter would have seen better numbers if they would have released fall/winter. Am I right?

My friend is like that as well, I don't understand it at all. Why spend $430 on a system, to play a few games throughout it's life? He played only a handful of games on his ps3, and so far he can't detach himself and his wife from stupid Destiny. I tried to tell him to get this, that he'd enjoy it wayyyyy more than that crap if him and his wife got it... but he just says he doesn't have time for this kind of game............. I'm an open and understanding person, but that logic just does not compute in my head.

I assume a lot of folks bought the game because of no sub. I know I did. So these people will generally leave earlier/first. They got their 50-60 dollars worth, played it like an RPG and find something else to do. I've played more than I do on many other games so it was a worthy buy. If they add some stuff I might stay, otherwise I don't know..

    Yesterday I played all day.
ESO is no longer the busy bee hive it used to be.
I mean now you can walk for 1 hour in the open and you will be lucky to come accross 6 people.
All this grinding for hours to get crafting parts to craft weapons and armour reminds me of Destiny and makes me miss it.
Backwards compatiblity will be with us console users very soon, so many games and so little time...

And now we have campains filled. Have to queue, to get into Cyro. People just tend to spend more time in pvp now.

No new content, that's why people aren't logging in.
The only content we've gotten for almost a year now is a half finished justice system and re-skinned clothing/mounts for the cash shop.
They threw their entire future into the hands of consoles for practically an entire year. Whether that will outweigh the loss of subscriptions and PC player loyalty is yet to be seen.
But many of us are disillusioned. The only 5 "news" updates on the launcher, stretching back 3 months, are advertising for crap they threw into the cash shop. Panels at the gaming conventions... they showed the same "upcoming" content teasers that they showed for the last year and a half.

I feel for the console players... I'd have a hard time even loading this game on my PC if I was a day 1 player. To pay a sub fee, support the game, and to see all their efforts going towards us, the console users is pretty lame on their end. Did they at least maybe gift you guys something to show their thank you for your loyalty? You guys are what made the game even end up on the console IMO. This game will lose, and lose hard if they don't start showing appreciation and interactioin with its player base. Dev run events are a must, new content is a must... you know how much $ they get from people wanting to ride around on some fire breathing horse? Or wanna look like a jester etc? Tons of $... If I were them, I'd be looking to roll out with new content ASAP to appease those on the PC. It's not like you have to roll out with it as the same time as the console... we don't interact with each other at all.
The game is missing out on a lot as well, it feels very bland to me. It's an ok game, that gets me to play a few hours a day, but if it had some of the things we've all beaten to death in here, I'd be playing like crazy, and maybe even spend some money in the crown store to say thanks for the hard work and support the game even further. I just don't get the impression anyways that customer service/support is the best quality of the people who run this. I could be wrong, but it just doesn't seem that way to me.

Right now, I cannot complain about the emptiness; on the contrary, I couldn't enjoy it more than I do at the moment.

I was used to roll Pact characters through, well, the Pact zones, which were extremely full. At least in towns, but also outside I met other players all the time.
I have one Covenant character though, which is now in Deshaan (2nd Gold zone for DC) and it's so empty that it feels like I'm playing a single player game. Which is awesome for me since I love to solo everything as far as it is possible. Sometimes it takes hours until I see another player. Awesome! :)

No question the player base is dropping. ZoS hasn't done squat to try and keep them. Fatal error not balancing classes, Leaving game breaking "bugs" cough Nirnhoned, failing to revitalize PvP, failed to break the Zerg, added nothing to really promote small group PvP in Cyrodiil, no new content, terrible group finder, lack of duel mechanics, no guild management tools, Endless grind, VR still in place, no spell creation and on and on, with little relevant feedback from ZoS on WTF is going on.

The Zones are a ghost town, especially in DC. The crickets and birds are the primary residents in Cyrodiil. ZoS needs to do more than "something." Time is over for just doing something. They really need to get on with providing a unique experience. So far that's not really happening and I'm trying like hell to find a reason to keep subscribing....

I am in 5 guilds myself and active members are WAY DOWN and I just can't see myself investing any more time in this game. If we lost this many people after 2 weeks, whats it going to be like in 30 days, 90 days, 6 months from now.

On the plus side I got more then my money out of the game, I played it hard core for 2 weeks. And since its buy to play I can play it any time. (At lest that's what I tell myself)

Read the same complaints about world vs world in gw2 in regard to zergs. Surely it comes down to individuals as to how they play, ie: forming smaller groups/guild groups. Then again, nothing wrong with zergs. Use whichever mechanic is most effective.

@Spectral_Lord - I definitely agree with that. I've been with the Aldmeri Dominion and because of the densely populated forests, you're able to see a lot more people per square mile. As for EP players, I don't think the deserts are as densely populated per square mile possibly because its not so tightly packed and its open desert areas instead.

I don't know if that's the same case for DC players but I think AD's the way to go if you're a person who wants to see lots of different players (with different attitudes at that!)

I can only speak for the PC platform, but ESO has always had a high turn around. There were threads like this two weeks after PC launched. Guilds were going dead. The list of inactive players was growing daily in many guilds and friends lists....

Then I started to notice something. There was (and still is) a constant stream of new players.

I actively recruit for a major trading guild. We started booting inactive players a month or so after launch. This was incredibly depressing at first because of the sheer number of people that had clearly moved on from the game. Anywhere from 5-10 people were reaching our inactivity limit every single day. So that's 5-10 people that were getting booted every single day.

Here we are almost a year later and that number hasn't changed. We still boot 5-10 people per day.

Yet it hasn't become any harder to find new players to replace them. There is an amazingly high number of new players still streaming in a year later.

So while ESO has some glaring issues that have caused people to move on since day one, it still attracts enough new players to keep it alive. That is it's only saving grace atm. But this cannot be sustainable. Can it? ESO needs new content badly. There are glaring issues like lag, lack of content and rehashed Vet Zones that cause people to leave on a daily basis and you would think that eventually the influx of new players will fall so far behind the number of players leaving that the population will slowly dwindle to nothing....

Yet I still easily find 5-10 replacements every day. It's kind of amazing really. Sad thing is when you consider how huge this game would be if it could retain half the people still coming in... There is such untapped potential.
