What do you look for in a Guild?

Reprezz

Hey guys, I need your help. I'm currently an officer in a guild with great leaders who are serious about ESO. I wanted to get your opinion on some things you look for or expect from being part of a guild. All opinions are welcome, thanks in advance.

    For a social guild:
    1. Friendly people.
    2. An environment of helping each other. Not specifically helping me (like some people are always looking for) but an environment where everyone helps each other, give and take.

    Activity, mostly.

If it's a trading guild, I expect my better-than-average-priced mats to sell. If it's a PvP/PvE guild, I expect to see people on and doing that respective content. If it's a social guild, I expect conversation in the guild chat and others helping each other.

I have a few guilds that I need to purge because they don't fit my current expectations.

I look for friendly, active players who are willing to help each other out. I look for the guild to have frequent events, but for the events to be optional so that I'm not pressured into participating if I don't want to.

I'll second this! Activity is definitely important; in other MMOs I've been part of guilds with 50 some members, but only 10 are ever on (and only 2 or 3 were on when I was on...lol).

Membership maintenance is important, a good guild will remove inactive players (each guild can decide on their own version of what is inactive) and will bring in new active members as needed.

Personally, my guild was a 30 day demotion rule, you get demoted 1 rank every 30 days you are inactive, until you are in inactive status, 30 days later, removed. It may be a bit slow, but we also are no where near the guild member limit (only around 150 members on our site, I think 120 something actually made it in game), so we have wiggle room to adjust and allow for slower inactive policy.

Also, if someone is taking an extended leave for some reason and lets us know, we won't remove them from the guild; the policy is only to really clean up people who it seems have moved onto a different game...etc.

I look for people that actually talk and interact with one another!!

Too many guilds in this game (partially because you can join so many guild) only ever spam LFM Gold Key, or WTS [Garbage Piece of Junk].

Having a loyal player base who are invested in a game is what keeps it strong and active.

In my guild (social), I expect:

    - Members to be respectful to each other
    - Members should know the guild policies and follow them

I think that if you do those two things, you would be welcome in almost any guild.

For my part as the GM, I just try to make sure everyone is doing those two things.

Friendly , maturity (within reason ofc) , good humored. Guildies that are dedicated to guildies first. Activity. Not necessarily always doing runs but its nice to log on and have others on as well.

I'm not sure i'll ever find the guild i'm looking for again. I don't trust most guilds to last any more so I tend to not bother with them tbh.

When WoW launched I was in one of the larger EU guilds for many years. Being American , they made me feel welcome right off and I made long standing friendships with many of them. We learned together regardless of repair bills how to do almost all group content all dungeons etc. Guildies came first.

Long story short , once Gearscore and the like came out , it became about who had the bis this and that. A once awesome guild became jr high school cliques. It became a bunch of gear w@@res who only looked out for themslves. I swore off guilds after that for years. I gave a couple short tries over the years in various games but they all end up the same. Most leave before you even know their names. I don't believe theres any guilds with loyal members any longer.

I may be wrong but none in the last 7-8 years have proven me wrong yet. I don't expect any ever will either even if they claim different.

#2 there is a very important point. It should never be all about "I want people to help me." It should be about "I want everyone to help one another."
