thank you. I'm starting to wonder about this community (new to ESO). But everything I've read is why doesn't this ___ provide a buff? Or why can't I do ____, I could do it in other games. Why, why, why, why. It's rather annoying and it's a turn off to new people in the community. It's a *** pet because, they put pets in the game.

Perhaps with the introduction of housing, pets can become more than just un-interactable followers.
Fetching items would be awesome! And your pet would only perform based on a happiness meter, which is filled by feeding or caring for your pet.
No. ESO is not going to become The Littlest Pet Shop, no matter how much you want it to be.
I don't see what would be wrong about a mini-mini game (let's be honest, you feed it 1 thing a day to make sure it performs is not a mini-game) about feeding pets. You already have the pets. Might as well add some immersion™ to them.

It's a general discussion forum... people like what works for them and what they're used to. I think A TON of stuff needs to be implemented in to this game that previous MMORPG I've played, going back 17 years have had in them. If you don't address issues, nothing ever changes... it would be a static game. These boards are fantastic, because at least I hope, the devs pay a little attention to posts here. I don't understand the logic of people just accepting a game as is, like this, like you want them to. It's a forum, we speak here...
Its about wow-generation in my opinion, WoW basically invented it, and many people likes to buy them.
No, the problem is that there are so many closed-minded people who can't understand that different people like different things. Some people only like things that have an in-game effect, and some people like things that are purely cosmetic. Neither is wrong - they just like different things. The people who are wrong are the people who throw insults at people who like different things than they do, and who try to make sure people only play the way they want them to play.Akavir_Sentinel wrote: »Its about wow-generation in my opinion, WoW basically invented it, and many people likes to buy them.
That's the problem. We've got players coming over from WoW that are 12 years old, or 30 year old neckbeards with, how should I put it, developmental issues, that live in a fantasy world.

Okay, so I have 3500 crowns so I went to the store and bought the costume pack, a wolf hound and the pie-bald (hey, I got the crowns for free with the Imperial addition).
While I can see that some folks might want the costumes (feh for me - I don't really care for them) and the mount might be nice (although I'll never use mine - I prefer to just run everywhere), but, what's the point of the pet? It doesn't do anything except follow me around. If it helped in fighting or had some special ability, great, but, all I can see is that it follows me everywhere and watches me get killed regularly.
I'm confused.
Somebody's been playing Dragon's Dogma, haven't they? Come on, admit it.I don't know. Generally the pets are not too bad on the ridiculousness scale. It's much more jarringto see people walk around in wedding dresses or clown suits. I really wish there was an option to turn other people's costumes off.
Same purpose as expensive cigars: to annoy everyone else around them.
I am of the mind that cheap cigars are more of an annoyance, because they stink a lot worse than a lot of expensive cigars.
[ I agree about the flappy hips...what's the point of armor flaps there?

Where I do understand what you're saying and where you're coming from, I suppose it just comes off as whiney to me more than anything. I understand wanting to make a game better or wanting fresh new ideas implemented. But to be fair a lot of what I've been reading here is people trying to make this game like whatever game they played in the past....which if you ask me, sounds even more boring playing the same style or adaptation of a game for over 17 years than playing a new game, with new features (or different features) and a different feel. It is supposed to be different, because it's a different game. I feel as though people forget that.
Sorry for asking. Sheesh. I was just wondering if they actually served a point other than cosmetic, and that was answered in the first 2 or 3 answers I got.
I didn't mean to cause such a brewhaha! My apologies.
Agreed. It was a valid question @DenMoria , the problem is that when people answer a question like that they often slip in their own biases and their own sense of values while being very dismissive of anyone who may not agree with them. That's what causes the brouhaha.

Just an example, Daedric Scamp can give +5% damage to destruction magic, Banekin can give +5% damage to summoned Daedric pets, Bravil Retriever increases gold find by 5% and actively auto-loots nearby corpses, Senche pet increases stamina pool, Wrothgar Wraith increases magica pool etc.
Just small little boons that also give a meaning to their existence and why you have them active.
The numbers used are just for example, not what I would suggest. I imagine doing something like this would as always take a lot of testing and balancing to not make one specific pet an absolute mustto have slotted for everyone or else you fall behind.
