Mage Light and Weapon Swap.

Hello everyone,

I just thought I would ask on here to get a definitive answer but does the "magelight" ability persist through weapon swapping?

I do not have the skill yet so cannot test it myself. If you do, it seems mad that you have to slot it twice, kind of defeats the point of weapon swap?

Loving the game, in no way is this a dig or a rant. Would just like to know! Ha.

It only persists if you have it on both bars. If you don't it will drop when you swap and you will have to re-apply it. This goes for all abilities that are toggled. (i.e. Sea of Flames, etc...)

Ah okay, thank you for clearing that up for me. I was just confused as my "molten weapons" spell persisted through the swap? I do not have that on both bars either. Both weapons were animated with the "molten look" to them. Maybe just the animation stayed but not the actual effects?

Molten weapons is not a toggle skill. Toggle skills are the ones that you turn on and off by clicking them. Those are the ones you have to have on both bars. Other skills you can have only on one bar, hit for a buff and then swap your weapon and the buff will carry over.

Oh, i get what you mean now! So when you say 'toggle skills' they are ones that you toggle on but stay on? You do not have to keep re-applying them? Okay, cool. I finally understand. ha.

Press them both at the same time and you get it on both bars! At least on PC anyway. I consider it an exploit but it's very easily done by accident.

If you animation cancel with weapon swap by pressing magelight and then quickly pressing swap it will continue casting as you swap and you will have it active on a bar without magelight on it.

Just literally press both at same time. Or Magelight a split second before weapon swap.

Giving advise on how to use that "trick" = ?

Animation cancelling is working as intended.

If it weren't, I wouldnt be posting it.

Trick works with any toggle skill without a cast time (basically bound armor, used to work with the suicide minion but they took it away)

Haha, but even a toggled skill is designed to only be active, when the skill bar [with the skill on it] is active and in no other way. If you switch to the bar without the skill, the toggled skill (normally) turns off, exept you put it on both bars.
With this "way to do it" (some call it: exploiting), you practically have one more active skill (even if toggled), which means your bar has 6 skills (at that moment), instead of 5 skills. If this isn't (minor) exploiting, what is it then? An animation-cancelling trick pony? Oh well, then...

For some setups you might just want it on one bar. When you come back to it, toggle it on and you have 5 seconds to get a 20% increase in spell power on the next attack. Come in handy if you have one bar for combat and a second bar for escape/utility.

easy fix for this would be to just give the toggle a 3-4 second invisible buff/debuff that checks if its on the bar every 0.2 seconds.

i mean seriously Zeni i tried this for a moment and achieved it in like 3 tries. its simple to do and works on any toggle ability. kinda cheating there

LOL ZoS leave PVP bugs in for months, don't expect this fixed anytime soon. Never seen an MMO so intent on killing its own PVP. I spoke by removing my sub, you should too.

Those of you cheating and then bragging about it here on the forums are what will ruin this game. The addition of the hidden global cool downs is a direct result of this already. It's bad enough that people already exploit the sloppy mechanics just to get a few hundred DPS, but they are also using it to cast wards and heals quicker too. I hate the idea of cool downs, but this is getting ridiculous. If you cancel the animation you should cancel the spell. Period.

Actually not working as intended would be more appropriate. Though it's not technically an exploit. I suspect you are one of those individuals who would get it handed to you if you didn't have it.

Is this thing still working? I tried it on xbox one and could not do it. Should I try harder or is it fixed already?
