Why do I hate this game?!

I love elder scrolls. LOVE Skyrim. FPS RPG fan. So why is ESO so.... Terrible? There is no tutorial, I have completed quest after boring quest. You cannot hold anything in your inventory (I am constantly giving away crap to vendors), I PAID for a frikkin horse 45,000 gold my bleepin ass. Now I am stuck on the veiled isle fighting things 3-4 levels higher than me. There are no extra quests to complete to grind at all. And the worst part? I have solo's everything. Not one team up. Not one big monster to take down. No dungeons to do. What a waste of 60$. Bethesda get to work on a real Elder Scrolls game. HELP ME!

Yet another person that has been playing for less than two weeks that thinks ESO was supposed to be Skyrim 2.

This is not a single player RPG. There is a tutorial. There is plenty of inventory space. You didn't have to spend 45k on a horse, the cheapest one is 10k and there is absolutely no difference in performance between the two. There are thousands of quests. There are many delves and dungeons.

Please go back to Skyrim. That's where you belong.

It's a fun game, but it is very vanilla for a game that's been out on PC for a year now. I expected more, but I do have fun with it. I'm giving it a chance before I automatically jump back over to FFXIV and start paying the sub fee again. If this game had player housing/economy/text chat/water/boats for water and some other things I'd play this game probably all day. But as it is now, I play it for a few hours and am content with that.

I don't want you to take this as an insult, but it sounds like you just aren't very good...

    1. This is not Skyrim Online. Get it out of your head that it is. Also, being a Skyrim fan doesn't make you an Elder Scrolls fan. It makes you a Skyrim fan. If you've played more than just Skyrim in TES series you would see lots of similarities.
    2. Did you not do the tutorial at the beginning? It goes over a lot of the basics of the game. You usually come out at about level 3.
    3. You can increase your inventory size through Bag Merchants and by upgrading your mount. You do not have an unlimited inventory to loot everything and hoard it in your bank. You have to make choices as to what you want to do.
    4. I'm not sure I quite understand your issue here. You did, or did not pay for a horse? The cheapest horse is 10,000 gold. All horses are the same, except for the way they look.
    5. If you are fighting things a higher level than you, you missed content. Doing everything in a zone before moving on will net you 3-4 levels higher than all the surrounding mobs.
    6. Have you done the Public Dungeon? There's one in each zone and unless you are quite a bit higher in level and gear, you won't be able to solo them. There are also world bosses that are often too difficult to solo.
    7. There's also a group dungeon in each zone. And, like, 10 delves.
    8. Bethesda didn't make this game.
    9. The Packers suck.

if your under-leveled ur doin it wrong. if u see a black symbol on the map it means u have not done it and there are more quests there. there is 1 big dungeon which u need a organised group for per map. there is also 1 "public" dungeon that u will need a friend or 3 to complete both with hard(ish) bosses and 1 very hard boss intended for a group. ontop of this there are also 3-5 world bosses per map (standing in certain areas marked with skull) that u may want a group to do. anchors require a group also until u level up a bit. umm yeah basicaly u are blind as a bat and blaming the game for your ignorance. put a bit of effort before having a cry here plz or ask someone.

p.s. its not bethesda making this game. god damn the ignorance is real on so many levels.

  • JayceStyles
To get your horse, click the options button on your controller, select collections then scroll down to mount and make sure it has a check beside it, if not go to the mount and simply select it.

Outside that, I would have to say you have been missing quest along the way, google up a questing guide for your area. You will find tons of websites and youtube videos that will greatly help you out.

    all the best.

Wait... did you just complain about boring quests and they say where are the quest?

Anyhooser, there is a tutorial fyi

There are horses that are 10k

You don't do quests to grind

There are world boss' in every zone once you leave the starter zone, though "big boss'" you may want a dif game if you want physically gigantic boss' to kill every few minutes...

There are LITERALLY a shnaz ton of dungeons to do throughout the entire game... not sure what yer talkin about there.

Not sure how consoles work for partying but hopefully you have some medium for talking to strangers to get in groups.

    Dear MMO veteran from WoW/GW2,

This goes to show how unfamiliar you are with:
    1.) the typical MMO zoning system;
    2.) the typical questing system of any story based RPG - complete quest line that you hate ASAP to get a better quest line;
3.) the levelling system of any game - ESO is one of the games where it doesn't matter if you grind mobs or do quests, you still get your level, so you're basically doing nothing if you're under level, friendly tip - start playing the game so you could level up.

I pick up everything, I don't have a mule, and I'm pretty sure you won't even fill up 30% of your inventory and bank with just veiled isles. Plus you're a new player, your bank is empty. Dungeons and delves have been reworked and redesigned, it's amazing ever since so no idea if you even have the same game. Assuming you've never gotten yourself into a dungeon, there are still world bosses. World bosses could be solo-ed depending on your personal skill level.

You just seem like a huge troll IMHO. Having earned 45k gold for a horse is not an easy task, yet you're typing nonsense that nobody with 5k gold would be saying.
People keep telling me they're gonna buy me an ale. They never do.

There are only two things I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's culture. And the Elves.

As a new player to ESO, albeit I did play Skyrim for a bit but gave up after a short while, and having read your comment, I felt I needed to reply.

When the game was released for the PS4 a short while ago, I was, like many other players, running around like a headless chicken. Where do I go now? What does that do? What is this for? How do I do that? Ect. Ect. Ect.

After a while I began asking questions on this site, fortunately there are some people who looked past my naivety, and having picked themselves up from the floor where they fell due to laughing and sat back in there chair, they answered my query. With that knowledge in hand I returned to the game and was able to progress.

I still have many many questions I would like to ask, for example I am still not that knowledgeable in blacksmithing, I can make some things but not sure how to improve an item, what items are needed to improve an item, where to find them, how to apply them. Same applies with the other crafts. Having played Skyrim you may have this knowledge, but the principle is the same.

I have learnt so much through playing, make a mistake go back and do things differently, yes it is a pain at times but I get the impression that the game wants you to learn by trial and error, pretty much as to how the real world works.

The ability to carry things, as was in Skyrim, a big issue. I often have to dump things that I know I may need in the future, in order to gather other items. I learnt a couple of things from this, use the bank, there is one in every city, go to the stables and train for extra carriage space. Sell junk to merchants. But most of all as a low level player, I know the ability to carry more items will increase as I progress.

The quests, I was going to ask about that. I have taken a few on only to find that they are either A. For group players and B. four to five times higher than my level.

Well for A. I can't do much about as at present I am billy no mates, my choice plenty of guilds out there. With B I just tonight completed a quest that was for players five times higher than my level and I completed it, it can be done. Especially when you go into battle with a powerful enemy and you have other players fighting alongside you aiming to complete the same quest.

Take your time learning about the quests, for me they are not that boring, each one is telling a story. A rather good story to be fair, yes there is a lot of text to read at times, but if you slow down and read it and understand what the quest is you may find that doing the quest is, well, enjoyable.

As a new player to another, take your time. Yes it is frustrating at times, yes you think why oh why am I bothering, but when you work some thing out it makes it all worth while.
Me? I'm dishonest, and a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly. It's the honest ones you want to watch out for, because you can never predict when they're going to do something incredibly... stupid.

You've got to realise, most of the people you see here are the rusted-on fans. These are the ones left after a year of attrition - most of the people who felt about this game like you (i.e. most people who played the game) have moved on to better things.

This is the heart if the issue right here. Console have no add ons, PC users now know where all of this stuff is.
The solution is exploring. The quests will guide you to new areas, but they won't guide you to everything. When you reach am area explore it to find all that good stuff you have been missing.
The horse issue though, ZOS really needs to bring the prices down for those other horses already.
Last bit of advice; slow down. Experience as much as possible before moving on. You will enjoy the game much more if you do these things.

Everyone knows the phenomenon of trying to hold your breath underwater - how at first it's alright and you can handle it, and then as it gets closer and closer to the time when you must breathe, how urgent the need becomes, the lust and the hunger to breathe. And then the panic sets in when you begin to think that you won't be able to breathe - and finally, when you take in air and the anxiety subsides...that's what it's like to be a vampire and need blood.
