What do you to squeeze every last bit of enjoyment out of this game?

I've been playing for about 2 weeks now, and up until now I thoroughly enjoyed it. I have hit 33 on my main toon, and have a few alts ranging from level 8-20. I have done dungeons, solo instances, part of the main story, mages and fighters guild quests, I've started crafting (which get's extremely boring and repetitive).. I tried pvp but f**k me, I get obliterated within seconds. This is something I quite like though, it gives me something to work towards, but I can't play this game for the pvp alone.

I feel I've experienced a lot of what this game has to offer, and I'm finding it extremely difficult to remain immersed. I listen to all quests (apart from the ones I've completed on another character), I read a fair amount of books, mainly the lore books, but I'm running out of things to do that grips me.

Pve combat is WAY to easy, the only time I've died in this game (during pve) is when the game freezes and force closes, which is seriously starting to *** me off.. But that's a rant for another time. I can solo Dolmens just 1 level below me ffs, and Dolems with a group... it gets blitzed within just a few moments, absolutely 0 challenge in this game, why don't they scale depending on the size of your group? Is this something that will be done in the future?
World bosses are a joke.. The CC in this game is extremely overpowered, I use my ice staff and freeze them in place every 5 seconds and they just stand there, getting battered, again 0 challenge

And lastly, I heard this game is severely lacking in end game content, so that's not something I'm looking forward to any time soon. Literally just kill mobs and grind for some kind of points? That sounds about as exciting as a bucket of spit.

As the title says, how do you guys squeeze every last bit of enjoyment out of this game? Please no trolls, I just want a general, mature discussion with some witty banter.

Cheers.

Wow! You've almost played for a whole two weeks?

If you are already making posts like this, then ESO is not the game for you. I've been here since launch, still subbed, and still enjoying it.

Seriously, I enjoy the heck out of the storylines and questing.. Try to find skyshards and treasure maps without addons.. And dungeons! Vet dungeons are a different beast compared to the normal ones, and I even tried DSA out once. I like to fish and get achievements.. I also get obliberated in PvP lol. Get a toon to VR and enjoy the end game we do have, check out vet dungeons and try to get really good at the.. Past that there is DSA and vdsa.. And of course trials. Take your favourite character that you have made so far and take them there.

I hear you. The only 2 things in the game that dont make me cringe - dungeons and pvp. Sadly nothing else brings any challenge/reward and quests are getting boring really quick.

I enjoyed my first playthrough immensely and focused only on one character. Complete each zone and progressing to the next one may sound repetitive but the game itself is quite lovely and while some quests may feel similar, other quests were pretty funny, sad or interesting. That being said, if your issue is the game itself feeling like there's no real challenge, once you hit VR1 and start exploring Cadwell's silver you can always skip a zone or three and make it more difficult. All in all focus on one character and get a solid playthrough via questing (I can't stress this enough, grinding is boring and ultimately you miss out on everything). If you're still bored after completing your home faction and don't have the motivation to attempt the VR content it would seem ESO is not the game for you.

I know I know, a very long time. You could be right, but that's not really what I wanted to hear. I'd rather hear some tips on how to become more immersed.

I did enjoy the questing, the voice acting is superb and some of the stories are unreal. But a lot of the stories and quests are insanely repetitive, go here and kill 8 of these, go there and collect 4 of these. Just bog standard MMO quests, which is the whole reason I quit WoW.

I was thinking of just buying EXP scrolls from the crown store and rushing to veteran rank with my 33, but I'm worried about missing out on skill points, so with that being said, would you still recommend turning off the skyshard mod?

I've unlocked a few achievements myself, I really do enjoy receiving them, getting the dyes and making my character look like Scorpion off MK :p

So the combat does get harder at veteran rank? If so then I will happily carry on playing. The *** easy combat is the main killer for me quite honestly. Thanks for the reply.

If you don't beat the main storyline and gain access to the other alliance zones, you will miss out on half of the skillpoints in the entire game.

I agree the game is extremely nice to look at, and one quest in particular almost bought a tear to my eye. The Thalmor school quest in Auridon. Simply beautiful.

It's not the whole complete a zone and on to the next that I find boring, it's just the repetitiveness of the quests that I don't like. I understand there's only so many unique things to put into quests, but it's the same far too often.

I've not finished the mages and fighters guild stories yet, or the main story. I should of said I will complete these regardless. I find them very interesting. So should I still not buy the scroll and rush, knowing that?

My guilds keep me in the game. When I'm not with them in pvp, raids or pledges I just farm crag or fish while messing around online. Embracing the social aspect of a mmo is the only thing that keeps them from getting stale. Otherwise I jump from game to game (and I do a little of that anyway).

I'm one of those open world explorers ... plenty of space to explore either with one toon via Cadwell's silver and gold, or rolling different faction characters.
Everyone knows the phenomenon of trying to hold your breath underwater - how at first it's alright and you can handle it, and then as it gets closer and closer to the time when you must breathe, how urgent the need becomes, the lust and the hunger to breathe. And then the panic sets in when you begin to think that you won't be able to breathe - and finally, when you take in air and the anxiety subsides...that's what it's like to be a vampire and need blood.

That's a bit of a problem for me unfortunately. I work nights, so I play mostly at night. There's hardly anyone online when I'm on, and the 2 guilds I'm in are either German, or hardly ever speak anyway, and if they do speak, it's only ever to tell other players how stupid they are.. Not exactly the most social or friendliest of people.

I think I made the mistake of downloading addons a little to early, but the amount of pointless quests in this game is insane. They give next to no exp, and very little reward at the end of them. I like the quest chains. They tell an actual story.
But the addons do completely break immersion, I know where everything is so I've decimated any exploration in the game.

What's Cadwell's silver and gold? Is this more towards end game?

This is probably wise, but I did choose the none veteran rank zone, but I still get destroyed by people 10-15 levels lower than me. I think I have fairly decent gear, it's all my level and set's, so I get a fair amount of bonuses, but I do terrible damage, why is that?

Veteran ranks were more difficult, se were some bosses. Although i was thinking about it lately and dont think it would change much for me really. My main is only vr 7 and i simply cannot bring myself to get back questing. I made a mistake and did some alts in other factions to get the feel of classes and factions.

But you just move on to the enemy faction once you've finished your own don't you? do you go back to level 3 and forced to level back up again?

It's relaxing and fun. You get explore the world, and stop and take in the scenery. There's some challenge in stocking and picking the right bait for each type of water. Trophy fish count toward the highly coveted Master Angler achievement. Non trophy fish now give the chance at perfect roe, which sells for an obscene amount.

After you beat Molag Bol, Sir Pot-on-Head invites you to live as some daedric-inspired avatar in one of the two factions against which you've just spent untold hours fighting. The quests are the same as if you rolled another character, just harder, and you see nothing but other VR players around you ... all using some daedric mumbo-jumbo that allows your character to be unrecognized by all the enemies you'd been heretofore fighting ... and now helping.

Yeah, it's as stupid as it sounds ... but the most effective way to reach higher VR ranks.

With the exception of not being able to group with my wife for the main story quests, really did enjoy playing to Level 50 and beating Molag Bol.

The Fighers Guild and Mages Guild quests were also entertaining, though those too are ungroupable.

I read through this thread and I will admit that my first reaction was kind of negative. My initial reading of OP's situation was of someone rushing rushing rushing and then not being satisfied and relaxed. Then I had to think 'what do I mean by that'?

So my first reply to "how can I squeeze every last bit of enjoyment out of this game" is to say:
    Stop squeezing.

Having fun is like catching a butterfly. You can't force it or do it fast, you have to be subtle and let ... well for lack of a better term let the world seduce you. For that matter the origin of the world seduce is 'to lead astray' - so wander.

For me ESO is not whiskey to take straight up and quickly; it's fine brandy to be savored (high rez screen as snifter is about as far as I can make that analogy go) ;)

Take screenshots. Re - do your armor/outfit and head to the dye station and then hit randomize a few times - then walk away and tell anyone who asks that you are planning on suing your clothier. Find an emote that displays your horror at your outfit, take a screenshot of that and post it on a 'show your character' thread.

Level up some skills you haven't tried or morphs you don't like/know well just to get the feel of how they *could* work.

Give something away to a lowbie in game. Either by trading or by game-mailing an interesting looking stranger.

When you are doing an adventure that seems repetitive, make up a story. Why do you have to put poultices on these people? How does it feel, knowing that having been through the Wailing Prison and Cold Harbor that you are no longer truly mortal ('cause - game mechanics - you're not).

Go to a coastline and follow it along. Slowly. Fish. Do not kill any mudcrabs. Make low-material items with every crafting trait you know and sell them cheap in every guild you are in - just to be nice.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

Just that. Digging into the nooks and crannies and stopping to smell the roses along the way.

There are oddly placed skeletons all over the place, many of them with something the indicates how they met their demise or what they were doing when they died. For a while ZOS organized contests to write stories about those skeletons, but nothing so formal is required to enjoy doing that.

There are notes, journals, and diaries around that are not part of any quest. Some of them make references to other places you can go.

The loot isn't worth it, and the experience is marginal, but there are treasure chests everywhere and it is kind of fun to run around and look for them. With Justice System, it builds Legerdemain.

In games like Skyrim, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, and ESO, where there is a proximity compass, I try to find places where no waypoint markers show up.

The graphics on this game are very nice and so I look for places off the main trails where I can capture wallpaper images.

Of course, while I am doing all this exploring, I am stripping the land of anything (of value) that is not nailed down and selling it.

When I was just leveling for the first time I thoroughly enjoyed exploring every bit of the map and oooo did I love looking for skyshards and treasure maps! I've found every single skyshard in the game(short of Cyro ones) without an addon and that was really fun for the first time through for me:) And treasure maps...I even bought them lol, reward was trash but looking for it was really fun.
After having levelled my main to v14 and done every dungeon and stuff 33446981366 times...well, last thing I've done was 2 manning vet dungeons(yes. Yes I was VERY bored lol) and trying out some PvP.

Unless passing peeps start messaging you that they want to buy any perfect roe that you get.

Seriously, I enjoy the heck out of the storylines and questing.. Try to find skyshards and treasure maps without addons..

I think these are probably the two most important for me. I also try and complete areas without looking at my map at all, makes it quite tricky at times, and certainly gives a different feeling to unexplored areas. For me, just that one change alone brings back some old feelings of 'I wonder what's over there/behind that mountain, hill, trees etc.'. It also has lead me to getting my character 'lost' for the first time the other day since playing, and that whilst not altogether an enjoyable experience, is one I like because again; you get that exploration feel of really being out on adventure in the wild somewhere. Or at least as much as you can in this game.

Along with that, I adventure almost daily with a couple of wonderful orcs (you know who you are). I think if ESO was exactly how it was, but a single-player game, I would have stopped playing long ago.
