is leeching considered harassment? does it go against the COC or TOS? also is it considered harassment if the person keeps whispering and telling you to stop or go away? sometimes being really rude sometimes being vulgar?

What is this leeching you speak of?
My wife complains that I never listen to her. (Or something like that.)

No leeching is not harassment, you have just as much right to kill that npc mob as the next person. It is bad play form and you get reduced xp if too many people attack the same thing.

Not really against the rules but pretty annoying ()assuming someone is actively following you, not just doing the same quest as you in a delve or something)... especially when it is being done by lower levels in zones they don't belong in...

Seeing it a lot on Xbox, especially in the Rift on EP. Lots of level 10s and 15s wandering around zone, trying to get XP off of fights they can't actually do.. sometimes doing entire quests by trailing higher level people around. A lot of them are WW beggars.

Also seen some at level guys doing this with coldharbor clothes (in their 40s) who can't kill anything themselves because they still have the starter level 1 2 h sword.

I let them get aggro so they die, then finish the fight.

    Two things:
    • As mentioned, pull more aggro than they can handle.
    • If they're that far underleveled, they shouldn't be able to get kill credit from higher level critters (more than 5 levels) if they aren't doing sufficient damage or healing. (This only applies to 1-50)

Sure they are not with someone? I play for about 2 hours in level 27 zone with my level 23 DK and had a level 12 DK friend with me doing quests lol.

It was all in fun with the side quests as me playing down at Level 12 stuff would really just ruin any fun someone could have.

No it is not harassment and as this person says, you have as much right to be there as they do.

The thing is, many people bot or pay others to play their account to grind CP. There are limited viable grind spots. So, do the math. If people didn't leech then there would be no reason for these 24/7 botters and account sharers to move on to other areas, thus monopolizing the best grind spots in the game.

I think there needs to be instanced areas that offer the same or better XP than the best AOE grind spots in the open world, that ZOS needs to do a better job monitoring botting/24-7 account sharing, and that people need to stop obsessing over CP and just play the game.

Of course, none of this is likely to happen, so I say play wherever the heck you like and kill whatever the heck you want and if someone whines ask them to show you where their name was printed on the mob's arse.

    it's a *** move, but it ain't harassment.

As long as they are not actively staking you, and following you, it's not harassment, he just wants the juicy exp.
If he's underleveled or just a plain noob, just keep going, skip a spawn or 2, and let him die off, start using pots and stop healing in area. he'll die/get bored soon enough.

Unlike other games, players cannot "steal" mobs, so if you get in on the fight, can get in enough damage, and everyone is around the same level, everyone there will get XP.

That said, more XP is granted for one or two players, less for three or more.

If you are just there for the raw XP, you don't want a lot of people around unless you are OK with it taking a bit longer. If you are just there to kill monsters and have fun, there is nothing to worry about.

Bottom line is that all mobs are open for everyone and joining together to kill them is not rude and is not harassment. Standing back and hoping to get XP for someone else's work is a different story.

No. It's perfectly acceptable (although sometimes irritating).
also is it considered harassment if the person keeps whispering and telling you to stop or go away? sometimes being really rude sometimes being vulgar?
Yes. If they're being really rude and vulgar to you and won't stop, that's something you should report them for. Take a screenshot of the chat for proof (assuming you're not on console - if you're on console a video would be better if possible).

We all bought this game, some of us paid a sub and some still pay a sub, every one has access to the same things, no one has the right to claim a public dungeon as their own, the self entailment of some people today is just off the hook and crazy. Everyone has the same access to the same things getting tells to leave over an over would go to my ignore list, and reported for harassment.

I bet some of these folks got low grades on their report cards, in the works well with others category...LOL

@lsneakl , they'll still get quest turn in XP's (though they're shooting themselves in the foot because they'll outlevel the quests available to them now and then won't have these later), but mob XP's require 'significant contribution' as ZoS put it in a prior patch.

This was implemented some time ago to keep higher levels from carrying lower levels through content they couldn't otherwise handle, in efforts to power level the lower level character.

If that's what you're doing (what you said, not what I just said) and that's what you both want to do, go for it. Just understand he's probably not getting as much XP for your kills as you may think.

Regarding the other, it's pretty readily apparent when someone is lingering for purpose of piggy backing kills as opposed to doing questing. It's about as hard to spot as a tail in a low budget detective movie.

Again, while not against the ToS, it's not great form and will irritate your fellow players to the points where they will likely try to kill you. Personally, it's my belief that if you're that far underleveled for a zone, there should be stuff there for that very purpose.

If they (either side) get verbal in an inappropriate manner, then it becomes a reportable offense.

I have seen this quite a few times in the higher lvl areas where a lvl 6 or 20 are there trying to leech. It's not again the rules.
    This is what I do:
I always run in a group with my boyfriend. I just tell him, grab more, stop attacking, and I watch the mobs go to the low lvl and watch them die. Then I throw out a heal and go to their body and do the "No" emote just for giggles. ^-^ Then we go about our business again.
