Can't join pvp campaign

I keep getting an error saying I have an opposing faction character already assigned to this campaign. Anyone know why I am getting this error other than the obvious? No where does it say that I can't have two characters on the same campaign.

Well yes, it does. You just quoted that message yourself. You cannot home or guest two characters of different factions on the same campaign. Clear message, clear situation.

In case you do not have a character belonging to one of the two other factions homed or guested on that campaign, write a ticket, then it is a bug.

I do have another character on there from the opposite faction but I don't use him at all except as a crafter. There was no warning before I joined stating this would happen, it wasn't until I joined with my second character that I got the error. I submitted a ticket so hopefully they will be able to remove my other character from the campaign soon.

Yep, i have the same issue. My Pact character cannot join any PvP campaings because of this nonsense. And i can't even opt out of any campaings either.

I agree, should be a warning about it, I just joined with my crafter that I don't use on EP side just to see what the AD side looked like. My main is AD side and now I am getting the error. hopefully tech support can remove my crafter from the campaign soon so I can join with my main. Just sucks because they got rid of the tech support phone number so now I have to wait a day or two to hear back from email.

    I wouldn't worry about it.

The little bit of PVP I played consisted of:

    1. Join lopsided campaign
    2. Zerg rush
    3. Watch the server clear

Terrible hit detection, getting one hit killed. No thanks....

Then switch the other character to another campaign. It is bothersome that there is no "un-home" function available but ZOS has explained that they do not want this to be an unrestricted function in order to prevent campaign hoping and spying. Us PC players have been asking for it for close to one year now. They are finally thinking about possible solution to implement this, though.

In the mean time, just get your crafter character out of that campaign by homing him on another campaign. If you do not have the AP to do this change immediately, chose the option to change at the end of the campaign. That should get you out for free or very little cost.

If the chosen campaign is a 30-day campaign, then assign your main to a guest campaign only and dunk it out there. You are still able to progress your character in alliance ranks, you are just not eligible for the leaderboard of your guest campaign.

When the next pvp update patch is delivered, all characters will be removed from their selected campaigns and will have. To choose new home and guest campaigns. This will eliminate those cross-faction conflicts and give us all a chance to not have toons locked in the alliance wars if we don't play them anymore. If you (understandably) don't want to wait for this, you can move the toon you don't play to a different campaign. The move is free if you haven't done it before.

You can set your home and guest campaigns to be the same, to help reduce the campaigns your unused toons are locked into. Choose your guest campaign first, then choose the same as your home.

Do I have to contact support for the move? I just tried to do it and it says I have to wait 3 days and it's going to cost 15k alliance points

There is a cooldown timer to change campaigns. It should be around 2 days actually, I don't know why it is 3+ days for you. The AP cost is normal for change during campaign period. As I said above, try the "Change campaign after this one ends" option. That should be cheaper, but takes longer. Or bite the bullet and earn the 15k AP, you should easily be able to do that until the change cooldown has run its course.

I do not think that support will move you out of the campaign. You can always try, though.

I hope they can because the campaign I am in is completely controlled by the AD, the EP side has nothing, I am guessing no one from the EP side even goes there.

The reasoning for not allowing two or more characters from the same account(but different alliances) to join the same campaign is to slow down the spying. Yes spying is a part of war , but not being able to trust new people coming into a campaign could make it hard, if not impossible , for them to be grouped. A hard core PVP guild or group are less likely to openly invite unrecognized names. Right now (if you are not in a PVP Guild) it can be difficult to find a group where TS is not mandatory. There will always be those players who have more than one account . All spies will never be outed and players get that, but imagine the mistrust if this rule was not implemented. Suspicion alone would be a new players bane. Lag wouldn't be the ruination of PVP, suspicion would. Right now you actually can play PVP , just have to join another campaign until you remove the first from the campaign you want to join.

I can definitely understand that, I agree that people shouldn't be able to change just on a whim, just wish I knew what I was getting in to before I joined with my other character. Support says I should be able to change when the campaign ends for free since it's my first time but I am not sure when the 7 day campaigns end.

@ZOS needs to add in a feature that allows us to leave a Campaign if we choose to. This would allow us to put a different character in that campaign and not have two in there of opposing factions.

If implemented, this should be allowed only once per character or maybe even per account. People new to the game cannot imagine the impact that spying and griefing has had on competitive campaigns. Opting in and out of campaigns would be an innocent mechanic, that would be exploited by people with nefarious intent.

Just have one of your other charcters join a different campaign (free at end of campaign) effectively freeing up the other campaign for your non-crafter.

You should be allowed to join any campaign with any character, but doing so should lock out remaining (or existing) characters from entering Cyrodiil in that campaign until it resets. This would allow you to join, without the ability to swap back and forth (for obvious illegitimate reasons) at the cost of locking out those characters already engaged.

Why should you expect to be allowed to play both sides, honestly?

Furthermore, why did you crafting character join the Alliance War in the first place??

I got some information on the forums about haderus being a good pvp zone for AD side but wanted to verify the information before setting my main on it, so now I am stuck without being able to pvp on my main until haderus resets.

You are correct. Just bear in mind, it's a necessary evil to keep people from performing more acts of espionage than they already do.

If two characters could play the same campaign, for one, you could always be in the winning campaign, and second, you'd always have access to inside information.

The good news is, it's not that long, in the grand scheme of things. You could always do some support on your crafter and build up AP's and the skill line while you wait. You an also scout and learn the map.

Being a crafter, I'm guessing they are less than formidable. It will help emphasize use of caution when you finally arrive with your main.

Personally I wish you could look at what the map is like in a campaign without joining it. It would be nice to be able to see which campaigns are relatively balanced and which ones are totally lopsided before you blindly join one.

I can't help with the answer to that question, but if you go through the options to Change Campaign, the last screen gives you the option to "Change at the end of current campaign" instead of "Change now" (or something), which will either be free or cost 5000 AP (rather than the initially stated 15,000 AP).

Do you know how to get to that menu on the ps4? Even tech support can't tell me how to do it. All I get is the option to pay the 15k and then it tells my I'm locked for 3 days.

I at least can't, I don't own a console. On PC, if you opt to change your campaign, a popup pops up with two radio button choices (now or at the end). Kudos (in a purely ironic way) to ZOS if they removed that one from console version...

It's possible the option won't appear until those three days have passed. I don't play on console, but I have read that if you follow the process to change campaigns right up until the point where you actually spend your AP, the option appears then.
