Retry an aborted quest?

So I was killed during a main quest dungeon in Deshaan. When I was transported to the beginning of the dungeon after a was killed I joined a friend instead of finishing the quest, now I have no question marker, no arrow to follow. What the hell do I do? Can I abandon the quest and go back to the original quest giver to restart the quest?

✭You can abandon "normal" quests to start over, so I'm sure this works the same way with parts of the mainquest.
Nothing bad can happen, it would be strange if there was no way to continue anymore after abandoning it
