Imperial City is coming, this is going to open up a very large, and new way of PvP, imagine..fighting inside the walls of the imperial city! it will be worthy of the wait.

They should've made the game where you die, you risk losing stuff... there's literally no consequences to dying... a decrease in some stats? I loved how Ultima Online, if you ventured outside of town you were open to attacks from players.

I played UO from 1996 beta to 2003. I was the leader of one of the largest anti-pk guilds on the great lakes server. You kill innocents you would answer to me. I used to take the PK's gear and put it on my vendors for 10 times what it was worth. I would take your head and display it on my front steps. So ya you COULD attack innocents. Once you turn grey or red tho you were history if you showed your face.

In it's current state of performance, purge balls, and insta-gibbing...do you really want risk losing stuff on deaths?

I wish we had that kind of PvP. Risk is fun for me. They'd do real well if they opened up not only duels in the imperial arena, but you could pick and choose if you wish to lose an item or something.

I think there should be an option for rewards, it'd attract 1v1 addicts like me

Simple answer, yes I do. There is NO consequence for dying now... and you can run across someone else's corpse and get some cool gear for yourself. I remember getting really mad when i lost one of my good swords one time, but guess what? That's emotion my friend, right now it's point and click and do a quest, you die, who cares? There's a shrine 5 seconds away. If you've experienced it, you'd know how fun it actually is to care about what's in your pack.

Ahhh... Ya I played from like 97 off and on til like 2009 or so. I played on Lake Superior. Before Tramel came out there was a Keep right outside of Brittain that had hundreds of player vendors that sold EVERYTHING! (You could rent out space in your house to peoopple who didn't have a house, or if the house was in a good location, so they could set up a vendor and sell things). If this game had some of the properties of UO, I would be in love and probably play the game with all of my free time, as it is now, I can't really get in to it emotionally and invest a substantial amount of time.

is there a known respected spot to duel? or does everyone roams and hopes to find a person

There is no way today's players would be able to play an old UO style game. I loved it back then just walking thru the forest and cutting trees then out from behind a tree some dude would attack and you would start fighting right after he made you jump out of your seat. Loved those days. But to ask today's players to put up with losing everything on their body and bags would send they screaming that it wasn't fair and so on. Just wouldn't be tolerated by today's kids. Which means it wouldn't be a good money making market. Or games like Darkfall: Unholy Wars would be making tons of money.

with the way cash/crown shop works those types of lose everything when you die would be horrible. imagine just starting to play the game (especially weeks/months after release) and buying say the imperial edition, or just buying anything off of the Crown store in general and having it lost because high level players are in low level places. Thats the reason why we wouldnt have stuff like that anymore. You could end up losing stuff you bought with real life money and i dont feel like that would be right.

But it would be nice to play those types of game again. Granted i wouldnt take it too serious especially if you come in when too many people have already gotten a start of it. thats the only reason why i dislike games like that. Its nice to have a hardcore pvp, but when you have high level stay in low level place and basically grief low level players so that they cannot do anything the game stops being fun!

Imperial City will have an arena (for duels I hope) and smaller scale warfare i.e district vs district and sewer battle.

End game is trials, CP grind, vet dungeons etc.

there is literally no endgame in PvP and minuscule endgame in PvE (3 tiny 12 man trials and one longer 4 man thing)

so... ya... we dont really have any real group content overall like a MMO should have.
I play every class in every situation. I love them all.

    100% agree.

Death is beyond trivial here .

Even though I love open world PVP and am with you on that , I know we are in the minority , I'd settle for it being enough of a penalty in PVE where you actually try and avoid death and worry that it will be a setback.

Naked corpse runs in EQ at launch actually had parties forced to work together to get their equipment back.

It seems in this day "consequences" are bad.

From the rogue style games and a few other harder single player games popularity , it looks like there are some of us though who still prefer a bit of a feeling of danger in their games.

Make it so that if your character dies, you lose absolutely everything and start from scratch, creating a new character.

Bet folks would be more cautious then.

I won a keep that was partially inside the guard zone in vesper randomly in a contest. I ran an auction house there and a vendor mall. Was very profitable I had 1 million gold checks as carpet hehe. Couldnt steal from my customers.

EQ actually did this for one month. When Gods of Discord expansion came out they brought up a 30 day Discord server.

You died , your character died. Permadeath. No equip , no xps left , nothing.

And it was open PVP from level 5 on.

Was hilarious and fun , and nerve wracking.

Doesn't Eve Online use permadeath? Seem to recall some major battle costing literally hundreds of thousands of dollars in real losses to those involved, with all upgrades over the years considered.

Afraid the days of consequences are long gone in MMOs and no one will bring them back. I have great memories of dying in EQ1 and having to do nasty corpse runs to get it back or even needing a necro to summon it. Great times but the modern gamer thinks we are all crazy having enjoyed 'wasting hours' just to be able to continue our adventure.
EQ2 had a massively diluted system for death and soon after release even that was nerfed into laughable consequences. Vanguard in beta had traditional EQ1 deaths but by release they had reverted to the 'who cares I died' standard.

Wildstartried to attract the hardcore older crowd and even they kept away from death being nasty. Afraid it just won't happen anymore.

I wish we had a LITTLE more consequence for dying. The way it is now, dying is pretty much a non-issue.
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.
