If you wanted to play WoW, then you should have stuck to WoW.

This is elder scrolls as a mmo, not WoW without dwarves. Please stop hating on a game for not being exactly as you think it should be.

Oh, and consoles are the future.

I agree as well... Except for the 2nd part. And I've been only console since NES.... I did rock Soace Quest and Leisute Suit Larry on "PC" when I was 5-8. Lol.

Edit: when I used to say to my friends how I wish Elder Scrolls was online, THIS is VERY close to what I was talking about. It's not exact because there's no text chat box and no instances... As of yet. Get those and BAM, perfect.

Considering a console will never be as powerful as a PC that is not possible. But the first part I agree with.

Only for so long. Consoles are good for playing with cheap friends, or for kids without jobs. PC is far better looking, more customizable, better controls, and a good PC is cheap enough for anyone with a job above minimum wage.

I agree that this is not WoW or I would have installed and deleted in the same day like I did with WoW.

However, as this is an MMO, I will continue to ask for things included into the game, like a functional UI without the use of addons, with toggles (that means you don't have to use them).

Oh, and when a console can do everything a PC can do, do it better, and offer more than said PC...I will agree they are the future. I don't hate console players, I'm actually happy to see some asking for the same things PC players have been from the get go :)
If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

    Never played WoW.

Looked too much like a cross between risk and a giant sim.

I play an MMORPG a little more for the RPG than for the MMO.

WoW has had its day. I don't know why people continue to play it. ESO is much better looking, has better, more detailed, immersive lore, and has great potential going forward.

Played the WoW starter edition, because it was free. Thought it was an entertaining, if cartoonish game. Decided I had no interest in purchasing a subscription. Fire it up during Christmas to see all the digital decorations.

Did purchase and subscribe to SWTOR. It became bland after a while, and turned me off to MMOs in general. But because it had the Star Wars name and theme, stuck with it until it went F2P. Now, play it from time to time, maybe once every few months or so.

Fast forward to ESO: Really stoked about it when it came out, because the wife and I wanted cooperative play - something we'd been denied in all other TES games. And we both really enjoyed playing both Oblivion and Skyrim.

But then we discovered we couldn't group for any of the main story quests, or the Fighters Guild quests, or the Mages Guild quests. We were forced into solo-only play. So we slowed down and took about a year to reach Level 48 on our main characters. We finished the main story, killing the baddie of baddies about a month ago. Then jobs and life ate into the time we could spend playing ESO. That, and we just kind of lost interest, since once you've beat the big baddie, everything else is sort of anticlimactic.

So, we're still subscribed, but only because my wife hasn't got around to canceling. We do play, every few weeks or so. Sometimes I'll log on to play an alt.

Spend a lot more time posting here.

I think the problem is that what most old time scrolls players actually wanted was an scrolls coop game, or a scrolls group game. This fails as that, but then perhaps looking at that they decided to go bigger. It is a mostly single player game with a few grouping instances, I haven't played any of the group dungeons and what not yet, not far enough along but have very little interest in random others. Mostly just play with my brother. Having said all that I'm really enjoying the game other than enemies respawn way too quickly and the occasional person " stealing " my loot chest or what not. And eventually all our tvs are going to be full fledged computers anyway. All in one devices.

My spouse and I took a slightly different path. We didn't like the 'solo' idea, so we would go with a pair of characters, and figure 'heck, this not-being-able-to-see-you' is due to this all taking place in a Dragon Break. So we do things like "wait till I get to that corner" and "do you see some scamps on the left down there" and so on.

Taking serious liberties with crossing the fourth wall and all that - but it makes the game more enjoyable for us.

You should always bring up points about a product you buy that you think needs changing... Just accepting a product when you have an issue isn't what I do. Things would never get fixed. This game needs a few things to make it great for me. Player housing, interaction between devs and players, more water and boats to go on the water to fish off and store things in, better targeting in battle, player vendors for their houses to start a player economy, rare items that spawn with server refresh to place in houses, dev developed events, etc etc etc.

I dont think people are complaining because the want eso to be like wow._ people are complaining because zos has built and marketed this game as a mmorpg yet left out a number of key features most of which can be solved by mods on the pc but consoles on the other hand are unable to do this.

I would like to echo this.

If I wanted to play WoW, I would. I used to. I wanted to play an MMO on my PS4 (that had no subscription fee). ES Online is missing a LOT of basic MMO features, though.

In the 2 short weeks I've been playing, I've queued for groups for a total of around 12 hours and gotten a single group (one night after being in the queue for around 3 hours). But when the other players names popped up, one was already offline, one was in the Harborage and quickly left, and I gave the other 2 minutes to respond to me before leaving myself. Haven't queued up since. That was last Friday. Do queues work now with the new mega-patch?

As this is an MMO, I expected to play with other players, not just alongside other players. But all the main missions are solo instanced, and it seems all the side quests involve some sort of weird phasing that makes it hard to group up and knock them out (to the point that no one even tries). So the PvE is largely a single player experience - just not as good as Morrowind, Oblivion or Skyrim.

The Alliance Campaigns, for me, are the saving grace of the game so far, but can be laggy to the point of crashes (the only hard crashes I've had are in Cyrodil - around 8 or so), full of queues and misinformation, and suffer from the lack of text chat (or lack of good voice chat functionality - the ability to be in both group and guild at the same time would help).

The lack of text chat, buff bars, damage numbers, grouping, etc, just make it a substandard MMO. The forced (every time you zone) joining of area voice chat is as immersion killing as you can get (I gather the lack of so many standard MMO features is due to some Immersionist vocal minority cult from the past, but could be wrong).

The lack of any real challenge at all (I'm only level 28, so maybe at some point in the future the PvE gets hard?) makes it a substandard Elder Scrolls game. I admit I've done very little group content - but this is a game that seems to put obstacles in the way of grouping up that other MMOs (for the most part) don't put in the way, and I don't feel the player should be forced to overcome.

It does seem to be, at a base level, a good game that has had a lot of high level decisions made that only frustrate many long-time MMO players, and quite a few technical problems that plague the Alliance Campaigns, that at least early on seem like they could be really good.
