Infinite loop on the loading screen

I just installed and updated ESO and when I start it from the launcher I get an error 209. I searched the forum and I bypassed it by running ESO.exe directly. But now when I start the game directly, after the introduction movie, the game loops infinitely on the loading screen, I have to close it from the task manager. What can I do to diagnose the problem as there are no error messages? I'm using Windows 8.1 with Windows Defender in the background.

    if this is what is happening to you then it is a common "issue".
    > there is aparently a whole bunch of re-compiling or somesuch that gets done on the initial load after Any patch.
    it is Not infinite, it just take a few minutes, chill out and let it work. if after say ten minutes you are still waiting then you may have a more serious issue.
    i usually only have to wait for about 3-5 minutes (max) for this to happen then it loads into the game as per normal

    OK, thanks. There should at least be some messages on the loading screen so I know something is happening and not just an empty loop. I'm now reinstalling, we'll see what happens after that.

    Fixed by reinstalling. The initial load was 7min on my CPU, after that it takes only a few seconds on the loading screens.
