Do guards pierce damage shields?

I knew that guards are too OP to make thieving worthwhile, but I was being chased just now and they seemed to damage me through my Ward. The shield didn't even take damage, just my health. Why are guards so OP?

There are supposed to be the be all end all.

Theyre invincible. Otherwise people would gang up on guards and kill them all lol

Wonder if they'll weaken or remove the npc guards once players are able to become guards?

If you do this right, you never have to deal with a guard, ever. Even if your caught. Now, this only works indoors in non Castle/Bank type places.

1. First make sure your in sneak if you in a cell with any NPCs, even if they are on a different floor than you are, steal when stealthed
2. If your caught and get disreputable, then just open up your map, port a WS that is outside the city and make your way to the exterior entrance of the Thieves Refuge and go in an pay off your bounty.
3. There are many places to steal from that have little to no NPCs around to raise alarm, find them and loot them over and over again. Even a 1 Gold item will raise your Legerdemain as quickly as 250 or 750 gold item will. It does not count the gold value, only the number of items. Gold Value is for Achievements.
4. Because of #3, steal provisioning ingredients and launder those, then you can make food or sell the ingredients. Note, you may not have to launder to make food and drinks, but you can't put it in the bank or sell it if it is flagged.
5. While you are limited to say 120 items to fence (you start with 50 but can upgrade this with a passive) you also get 120 items to launder.
6. If you launder/fence every other day (24 hour period) the amount gets reset when you go back to the Fence, so have your bags as full as possible the first time. Provisioning ingredients are great for this as they stack and take up less slots

That's about it. I can level up Legerdemain 480 points in one session looting two places in a certain city. And I could do more if I had more Fencing Capacity, but what I have is enough.
