Some of these look good, but that skills menu looks like it has signficantly less functionality so obviously a blurry picture is going to look better on the surface. I see icons that represent weapons... where are the class, world, guild, armor, etc. skills?

It still seems like that. The dev tracker doesn't have any devs on it besides Brian. It's just mods, it's pretty much the mod tracker with the exception of what Gina, Jessica and Jason track down for us. Meanwhile there are devs actually talking on reddit. Makes no sense to me.

    Just.... Oh my...

We have been living without these for... Too long...

I have to say... This is better for immersion than anything we have now. It's smaller, more precise, the map even has descriptions of the freakin' quest you're on when you're doing it... Many, all of these things need to be readdressed and added back in. Those who want to keep the current ui... leave it as a toggle, I don't care. Make everything a toggle. Give us these things.

    A proper PC UI.

I can understand why the changed it. Every little thing that wasnt exactly like Skyrim they were being blasted for by " fans " and changing the UI to be like Skyrim was one of the casualties.

Would be nice to get that UI back for PC though and let the console players ( I also play on PS4 ) have the Skyrim UI.

I'd absolutely love if some of those UI elements were to come to ESO, some for PC only (mostly the equipped stuff.... wouldn't work on consoles well), others for Console too. A Minimap and a Multi Quest Tracker would be great on both.

Well, let's see... @ZOS_GinaBruno / @ZOS_AlanG / @ZOS_JessicaFolsom Are the forums the correct place to communicate ideas/comments/suggestions to the developers. Some seem to feel that Reddit is a more effective means of communications. There certainly seems to be more actual communication in the ZOS Replies section. It seems like most of what I see on this forum are hand slaps and thread closings.

If these were toggleable, why would a company actively make their game worse? I don't get it
If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

Please please please please please can we have nameplates? I'm so tired of feeling like I'm playing this game alone all the time. You get in a group be it trials, PVP or just for fun and it's very difficult to figure out who is who. Everyone's armor looks the same because of the muted colors and the cookie cutter end game builds, I still have no idea what some of the people in my guild look like that I quest with on a regular basis because it's so hard to tell in a group who everyone is.

I feel this way about a lot of the things that we have via add-ons. Like combat numbers. I don't use them myself, but I understand why some players want them.

This has been a frustration of mine while playing ESO for a very long time, too. The only way you can even readily tell an NPC apart from a player is with the overhead health bars, and the color difference between them (green/yellow/red for NPC's versus dark blue/light blue for players). Turn those off, and it feels even more lonely than now :p. I wrote in quite some depth about this a year ago in a topic I made here (http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/105965/class-balance-is-always-an-issue-what-about-everything-else). Here's a snippet:
Major issue #1: Community and lack of online feel

Running around in a town or major hub in ESO feels lifeless, and I never notice if I run by someone I know because I have no way to see them unless I tried spending five minutes hovering over everyone in a crowd of 50 people at the bank who all look like npc's standing still and looking basically the same. People rarely talk in anything but zone chat and you have no way to know where they are or notice if they're near you. Additionally there is no way for guilds to represent themselves as either (or both) a pride and prestige thing.

Literally if there were no overhead health bar options I wouldn't ever notice if someone was a player or an NPC except for them jumping or running over to a wayshrine. I can't tell what guilds tend to have people running around a lot in PVE or PVP because there are no tags and no way to know their guild without finding out through some other means like being in the same one and seeing them on the roster or guild chat, and you don't really feel a connection to the action or recognize people because there's no representation of their names readily available at a glance nor their guild affiliation(s).

I touch upon other topics that the original UI design shown in this thread's OP would have headed off as ever having been problems in there, as well :).
Wow @Attorneyatlawl I don't know whether to be depressed or mad

Honest to God, I couldn't tell you. I have yet to hypothesize a reasonable process in which doing that could have been decided on inside of a game studio :(.

It is strange, and frustrating frankly, that the majority of dev communication is not done on their company's own forums with active, purchasing players (you must have an Elder Scrolls Online game account in good standing to post on this site), but on third-party social sites spread across many mediums with potential players or in some cases brand new players. While it would be a great thing normally, when there is sparse communication in the first place with their existing customers and addressing their issues, that really doesn't come off well :(. I'd noticed this quite a long time ago, but given that I don't use facebook (by choice for privacy reasons), barely use twitter (tied to a junk email account and logged into for rare tweets to game company question requests or contests), and not a fan of reddit (the whole up/downvoting system with large abuse potential and overall hidden criteria for making topics sink or swim, along with the short-hand chat format, isn't conducive to active or meaningful conversation in my experience)... my options are significantly limited by this odd choice of outreach.

Yeah i still dont get why a mmo company have 2 forum and the so call offical one is the one that hard get any attention i mean serious if you post something import one on forum it should be post on both forum i mean come on ZoS how hard can be to gave info on both forum or people the people on ZoS to start use the offical forum which should be this one

Exactly. Some people that call themselves fans of Elder Scrolls mistake minimalistic ui from skyrim with ES. Since Buggerfall (havent played Arena) i always loved ES games for their specific feeling of freedom no matter the ui. And now thanks to those "ES fans" we have nicely looking, full voiced, minimalistic ui standard theme park mmo.

Wow... where can I buy this game and when will it be released?

Seriously it is very disappointing we don't have this in game right now but then again: It matches to ZOS and how we picture them right now...

Furthermore it makes me really angry that ZOS keeps telling us "Nameplates and UI work will need more time" as this seems like a blatant lie to me when I see the above screenshots and they'd just have to recycle their own source code with probably some minor updates to it... :s

Best thread of the year IMHO.

The Great API Debate was about the time I mentally checked out of here. At least Sage was nice enough to pop in here while we were all fighting amongst ourselves over the UI and addons to tell us that if we wanted all of these things for the UI that this "probably wasn't the game for us."

Im pretty certain I did, and at no point was it clear to me whether these were screenshots or files that he was able to boot up in game. If you are easily willing to throw sarcasm my way perhaps an actual answer could be just as easy though not nearly as failingly entertaining.
