Dual Wield

MadViking28
New player here. What level do Red Guard get Dual Wield? Also is Dual Wield the way to go as a Red Guard Nightblade?

Any race can use any weapon at level 1 if they find/make the weapons. It is not level restricted.

If you are going stamina-based nightblade, then dual wield is a good choice, with bow as a secondary weapon.

its fine, 2H has more Utility with Rally but less damage on the class skills like suprise attack and no steel tornado

Can you go into a little more detail as to how to get better damage output with dual wield? I've been switching between both as I leveled up (am now level 43 in bangkorai) and I find 2h seems to be offering so much more damage with significantly more survivability. I switched back to dual wield now and have been struggling to find anything that gives me really good damage. Regular mob are cleaned up fine, but when I go against a even basic slightly tougher enemy like a gargoyle I struggle with them on dual wield. Meanwhile with 2h I clean them everything easy, if slightly slower, and can solo world bosses.

After all the balancing and revamps that have been done over the past year and a half, dual wield had ended up as an aoe damage weapon, while two hander became a single target monster.

Dual wield really shines in multiple targets, but it will be less effective against single, tough opponents.

With a side by side comparison of similiar weapons in the in the 2H AND DW you will do more damage utilizing class skills that have stamina and weapon damage morphs. Class Skills such as Suprise Attack, Killer's Blade and Ambush will hit harder on single targets when you use DW rather than 2H and for groups Steel Tornado is the Cat's Pajamas.

ON my Stamina DW NB I have1 Dark Cloak, or Relentless Focus or Quick Blades, 2 Surprise Attack, 3Steel Tornado, 4 Killer's Blade, 5 Ambush

Ah that makes sense. I always found myself using class skills over weapon skills when I put on dw and couldn't figure out why. I'll have to mess around with that set-up now that I have this knowledge. Thanks for the information man :)

If you mainly use class abilities DW is better than 2H. If you want to use more weapon abilities, then 2H. Because

    a) 2 items to place traits on, self explanatory

    b) The base weapon damage and base (magicka) power is higher.
Hence you will see a lot of Magicka builds with DW than staff.

My Altmer (MA) NB is like that. Pretty ridiculous powerful I am afraid, even if decides to play "visible" like a DK or a Templar.

While my Khajiit (STA) NB, is 2H due to the extra dmg bonuses and crits, from racial passives when attacking from stealth.

What are essential DW defensive perks? I deal a lot of damage (only at lv 14) but I barely take any...

I just can't decide what armor class to go with... so no armor perks... any one have a armor class to go with?

...also, what would you consider the more useless skills?

    so far...

I have built DW and ardent flame to about 25... and have skills in hiding, persuasion etc...
