Keyboard Support for Consoles

thedemiseraphb14_ESO
I know that the xbox one and ps4 both support keyboards. And dev's have the choice to put them into their games. Can we simply get the same chat functions here that we had on pc? would be a great way to handle trading and selling and such without global auction houses etc

There is a dream that is text chat, there is another dream that is keyboard and mouse support.

It does support keyboard entries on XB1. No chat function, but I can confirm that it is usable via text entries such as guild message of the day, and email. Still though I dream of the day they implement text chat as well.

Can use keyboard on PS4 to type messages and stuff which is ideal since I hate using controller to type and always have a keyboard plugged in for that reason.
Having access to text chat would be really useful though, especially in towns where area chat is either overwhelming, or dead due to people unplugging mics to avoid being overwhelmed. Sure, text chat for the area may be spammed, but that's much easier to handle than 60 voices in your ear.
Having both text and voice chat would be fantastic, especially for a friend of mine with hearing difficulties who has to text me every 30 seconds so we can coordinate (quick chat just isn't enough for in depth strategy discussions).
Come on ZOS, you can surely implement it. Do it for the fans, do it for the social people who want to avoid squeakers, but most of all do it for David's phone bill!

Ideally they could just tuck the text chat options/display in the social section. Would probably be the simplest way to implement on console.

Forgive my noobishness, I'm new to ESO/this genre of game in general

Has anyone tried to use a keyboard for access to their quick menu for potions/consumables?

I'd imagine that on a PC these are mapped to keyboard hotkeys making them easily accessible no matter the situation. As it stands now, on the console version, to switch out a potion or consumable you must hold up on the D pad and circle around. This makes quick swappingin times of need cumbersome and risky.

It would be great if we could use a keyboard in leiu of this Quick wheel menu.

It's the same setup on PC (if you aren't running addons that allow you to do what you're describing), however, you can do it as you move and the button to pull up the quickslot is more appropriate than the left d-pad equivalent on console. Also, with a mouse it's much more fluid and precise to pick what you want quickly.

    That's a shame.

Another idea would be, instead of pressing up to consume what's slotted, pressing up would access a new hotbar where consumables are mapped to controller buttons. Upon pressing the button (square, x, L1, etc..) the potion/food would be used.

The current system just doesn't work efficiently on a console

I agree, I wish it were easier. I don't mind the setup if only they would allow you to move forward like you could on PC. Currently, when you hold up on the d-pad you can use either analog stick to move the wheel around. I wish your left analog stick could stick move your character like it does on PC and your right analog stick would be navigating the wheel. That way you could move forward but just not control the camera as you're switching pots/consumables.
