Writ Stacking

Given the scarcity of Psijic Ambrosia recipe fragments at the moment, I think something needs to be done to the Writ System.

So what if the writs themselves stacked in a similar fashion to Enlightenment, in that, for casual players who don't log in every day - The writs available stack until next login with a 7 day expunge timer.

So for example - I do a writ but then I dont log in for three days, on the third day I log in and I am able to do three Provisioner Writs which have been stacked one per day whilst i've been away. However if I do a writ, go on holiday for 10 days - I only get a stack of three writs because my writ stack reset after a week.

This would benefit casual players immensely

No. Dailies are supposed to encourage daily logging in and rare items are a reward to dedicated players, not casuals.

Also, please stop saying drop rates are broken and prices are through the roof when it's been only a week. Of course it'd rare when it's new, what else did you expect? This kind of behavior led console players to ask for vaml and wolf bites sold in the Crown Store. Just wait, it will become more common. Ambrosia is already quite affordable.

Oh I bought scrolls dont get me wrong, and I usually (try to) log in daily

But I think it extends more for purpose of being in game at the time, what am I doing in game today?

Like lets say I log in for 1-2hrs when I get home from work and I set my mission for that day as AP Farming - so I want to spend my time in PvP or whatever other purpose I deem on that day

Or maybe im playing an entirely different character altogether?

Its not just the whole Psijic factor but other mats as well. Thats just an example. Since the hirelings are rather useless now it makes sense to be a little less rigid with the writ system

Its not Playing the Game the way we want if things like Writs become a chore.

at what point did I say that? re-read my post.

what i'm alleviating to is that rare items that ONLY drop from writs, means that people who don't do the writs on a daily basis have far less chance of getting one. I haven't said drop rates are broken, they are working as intended.

Daily is daily. They are fine as it is. Just because other people can play every day whereas you can't, doesn't mean both players should get equal numbers of available writs to do. If you miss out on daily writs, you miss out.

    P.S. I am also a casual player.

No, I think the writs are fine the way they are. You can stack 2 if you want, by picking them up one day and doing them the next. If they feel like a chore, don't do them. Yes, you'll be missing out on the chan of getting a fragment, but how important is that to you if doing something else is more fun?

    LMFAO.

Some games allow stacking, one I play you can stack up to 7 days, which is great for those who aren't unemployed or students; the two demographics it seems to me most likely to be able to log in every day, even for just 5 minutes, the rest of us have real-lives which usually means we have commitments to others most days.

If it's so easy, then why do you need to stack writs instead of doing them every day...?

Logging in daily to do writs on several characters (which takes more than five minutes) in addition to other activities requires more dedication to the game, or just its crafting side, than logging in twice a week for two hours. It isn't difficult... but it eats into your everyday life.
Casual players aren't entitled to accomplishing as much as people who play more. If you'd rather do something else with your limited time than writs, you can always go make money and buy the recipe/ingredients.

"Play the way you want" never meant "always succeed no matter what you do." If you don't have time to do writs, you don't get writ rewards. Simple.

To put it bluntly he games ecosystem is already too large to do everything unless you're vesting more than 15hrs a week into it. Sacrifices are made by many of us so we can focus on the components of the game that are important now. Heck I didn't even touch PvP until 2-3 months ago.

My idea doesnt involve NOT doing the writs, it involves saving them for another day of the week when you specifically want to do writ and crafting related tasks. You would still have to find the time to do them. It would just give us more choice on when that time is.

Lets say I come home from work, and have 1.5 hours to play - So I drop a Crown XP Scroll and work on a lowbie for that 1.5hrs, but Whilst I also wanted to do my writs I couldn't because it would be a complete waste of time when the scroll is active..

I've been employed full-time for more years than I care to admit (because it shows how freaking old I'm getting), and I've got plenty of commitments to friends and family. It's still incredibly easy to log in for 10 minutes or so every day, even on days when I'm not going to have time to actually be playing.

Part of my morning routine when I wake up is to have a coffee or tea in front of the computer before my morning shower. I check a few comedy websites, log in to ESO to grab my hireling mails, and do some writs, and by the time I'm finished my coffee/tea (and sometimes breakfast, but I don't usually eat breakfast) I'm done, I'm more awake, and I'm ready to finish getting ready to leave for work.

Days when the server is down for maintenance in the morning are the only days when that doesn't work for me, and on those days it's not too onerous to log on for a few minutes when I get home from work, even if I won't actually be playing that evening.

I don't do writs everyday, but I try to log onto each of my characters once everyday or two and grab the writs for a day that I can play for a while. Then I'll knock out the ones in my journal and grab new ones and complete those. So, I don't do them every day but I get a chance to do a few a week. I understand what you mean though. I love the PvP in this game and when I have limited time I'd rather be logging on one toon and playing in Cyrodiil for two hours then to spend the first 30 minutes logging on each toon/collecting hirelings/feeding horses/dropping mats off in bank.

No, it really isn't, not for players on their first toon working through the levelling process.

Sure, its cheap-as-chips for players with multiple veteran characters and huge stockpiles of mats.

Like most game designers you look at the game from one, very myopic, position - the end-game player.

Isn't scarce? For me, the RNG gods just don't let the roll go my way. Eight characters with provisioning and seven days of writs and I haven't seen a single page. If you're counting, that's 56 provisioning writs without a page. I know several other people that got one on the first writ they did, then a second the next day. For some people, the pages are extremely rare!! For others, not so much. About to see if I can go for 64 in a row without a page... It's now a game to see how long I can go!

I have alts who are leveling and they earn a fair amount of gold while questing (and doing writs). So while you may not be able to afford Ambrosia to cover 100% of the time you are playing if you are new, it's not impossible to get enough gold to cover a potion a day or something.

Of course, that's if you are interested in completely outleveling the 1-50 content, which I honestly think is a bad idea (happens to my toons all the time because I take them on guild outings).

But if you are intent on just leveling a character with no regards to quests, yes, hitting all the grind spots and selling the loot should give you enough gold to cover XP pots.

Just to make things clear, I'm the kind of endgame player who doesn't do writs every day and could never afford constant upkeep of Ambrosia. I'd actually love it if I could stack writs, it would make my life easier. But, well, it defeats the purpose of daily quests.

Ambrosia isn't necessary for 1-50 content, there's enough to do to keep you overleveled. In fact, I'd avoid Ambrosia as a newcomer so as not to lose out on loot to sell. I'd only start using it after hitting vet 1. By the time you get there, you should be able to afford a few bottles - and the price will have fallen further. Moreover, I don't think we should be able to easily afford enough Ambrosia to cover all our playtime: 1) ZOS needs to make money on the crown store version and 2) it doesn't feel right to permanently speed up leveling like that. Of course, you can do it with crown Ambrosia... Either way, the potion seems to be suited for focused grinding sessions.

I just don't think this is such a huge issue when it's been only about a week. Why don't we talk about it when the price stabilizes? Honestly, I'm more worried about Roe than the recipe, everyone's fishing right now, but they'll get bored of it eventually.

I will say this though: Provisioning Writs should not ask the player to craft something they haven't learned the recipe for since it could take days or even weeks if you're unlucky enough to find the recipe provided you don't luck out and know someone who has it and hasn't used it or find someone selling it. I mean really I find more repeat recipes in all the time I spend searching containers than I do new ones at this point and I only have 82 recipes learned on my main provisioner...

    Thoughts? Discuss..

If you don't log in that often, they you don't need as many XP potions. Problem solved.

Buy the recipe at a guild store. Each tier only has 6 recipes needed for writs. Recipes are all over.

And maybe you have to skip a day if you don't have the recipe. That is life.

    Ambrosia is already quite affordable.

No, it really isn't, not for players on their first toon working through the levelling process.

Sure, its cheap-as-chips for players with multiple veteran characters and huge stockpiles of mats.

Like most game designers you look at the game from one, very myopic, position - the end-game player.

    90% of the total content isn't end-game.

    All The Best

But Ambrosia is kinda pointless on your first toon apart from compensating for the lack of single player content after Cadwell's Gold. So it seems pointless to bother with it until you are almost done with Cadwell's Silver.

Ambrosia's gone from about 50K down to about 20K, then last seen being sold in zone for 4-5K. The prices are plummeting at insane levels, and it will even out.

I hit VR4 on an alt with 190K in the bank just by selling everything I found. If you sell loot en masse, do the occasional burgle and throw up the worthwhile goods on a trade vendor you can make a hell of a lot of money, fair dinkum, even with repairs factored in. Your bank account will look fat and sassy come the end of it.

Money's not hard to come by in the game.

And while, yes, that's on an alt, if players had to buy a horse they may not end up with quite so much, but there is money out there. That said, the Ambrosia should also be handed out like candy. There should be SOME rarity to it.

Even if I wanted to spend money I am saving up for other things on said recipes there's no guarantee I don't have them already and I honestly doubt a recipe in a guild store would be sold for chump change but just to humor you I will go see what some guilds have in stock. Also just found recipe #83 a bit ago lol
