Purple yes. But in my year and a half of playing this game, I have never seen a mob drop a legendary.

Did you actually find a LEGENDARY (yellow) item in a mob? I'm on the same page as @Nebthet78 is: Never saw a legendary item drop from mobs and I'm pretty sure it's impossible. Screenshot?

My bad, I Call purple items "legendary" since that's what it's called in other games. Thought yellow in ESO was "epic" rarity

That's ok, no need to apologize. Was just kinda excited for you if you did find a yellow legendary drop from a mob.

Purple is called Epic... they are still rare to get when fighting mobs. They really help to boost your strength in the lower levels. Once you get to Vet levels though, you will want to have researched your build and what Crafted or Dropped armor would be the best for your character and what you want to do with them.

The rarity goes normal (white) -> fine (green) -> superior (blue) -> epic (purple) -> legendary (gold). Purples drop from mobs rarely, golds don't.
