Your question is underspecified: which class are you talking about? What race? Do you want to melee or shoot from a safe distance (aka being chicken)?

Sorry, I just noticed the "DK" in the thread's title.

Still, I'd say that there are no irresistible pros or cons for either option. Magicka and stamina seem to be rather balanced by now. On the one hand, DKs and fire staffs seem like a natural combination. On the other hand, casting Talons (AOE CC from Draconic Power tree) and then letting the Steel Tornado blow (AOE damage from dual wield) is simply a lot of fun, especially with the Ruffian passive from dual wield. You have a great skill for stamina recovery (Green Dragon Blood) and two decent stamina morphs in the Ardent Flame tree (Unstable Flame and Fiery Breath) that are quite good for a DPS build.

In the end, it will simply boil down to your personal preference. Just try both ways, changing your build is not that hard. I like stamina better, but that is, you know, personal preference.

Thanks for your comments guys, very helpful. I'm about to unlock Impulse, hopefully the AOE damage is sufficient.

The problem is End Game gear, It's all well and good to swap points but if I make a significant investment into gear for a certain build I guess i'll need to stick with it for a while at least.

It really is tricky.. I guess i'll just continue levelling as Magicka and maybe swap over at End game depending on which is more fun.

Based on a bit of research i'm now contemplating switching builds to stamina Dual weild, as steel tornado seems OP as hell in PVP and that's ultimately where I want to end up.

To start, I'll admit I'm a newb to this game. Secondly, I created a DK Wood Elf primarily using bow as my wep of choice. Now I have catered my dps around the bow and have morphed my scatter shot, magma armor ultimate and that aoe bow flame (obviously cannot remember that attack). I like the set up since I never played a hunter type before, but also feel I may not be playing this class or race properly. Has anyone else gone a similar route and if so, any advice? I'd gladly take any advice on playing a DK dps class as a wood elf. Thanks

I went destruction staff dunmer dk till level 28 was great fun recently swapped for dual weild drk from 28 to 32 so far and I can tell u both are great it's honestly on preferee style if u want to be ranged or melee type ... both have there pros n cons but overall both are pretty freaking sweet!

Stam DKs are FAR superior in any way to Magicka DKs atm. Single Target Wise they are on par and AoE wise they are a lot higher because Steeltornado 12m, and impulse laughable 6m.

Stamina is harder to play though becauser you have to watch your resources more careful.


If you want to make sure that you still could switch to magicka or stamina at endgame then choose a IMPERIAL as race.

They good balanced bonuses for both Magicka or Stamina
