This is not necessarily a 'goodbye post' to note as a means to prevent the overzealous ZoS mods from deleting this right away, this is just a post for feedback and reasons as to why We are cancelling our subscription.

From day 1, We have been with ESO and ZoS. We paid €110,00 for the Imperial CE edition of the game, We have been subscribed since closed beta without letting our subscription lapse even once, and We have even defended them in the past on the forums.

Now, really? At this point, We are feeling quite foolish for having done really.. all of that, honestly.

All our support has evidently meant literally nothing to ZoS as they have not only repeatedly lied, but done many things that should not be done. To list only a few off the top of our head?

1. They have sold the CE exclusive digital items (such as the mudcrab) in other mediums, making it no longer exclusive. You can argue 'it is not the same mudcrab,' but really.. it is.. a mudcrab is a mudcrab, you are not kidding anyone. This was a crappy thing to do, but We were willing to overlook it.
2. Then came the second thing, you know? All those promises that ZoS would 'never abandon their subscription model,' even emails directly to them ASKING them point blank this question and having them answer in a way that We now realize was -intentionally- deceptive because they -knew- what they were doing? We really are not okay with this.

Greetings Jade.

Allow me to apologize that we are not able to comment on such rumors. I understand your concern, but please note that these posts you mention are just rumors, and should be taken with a grain of salt.

You can also read an interview with Matt Firor, the General Manager of Zenimax Online, on why ESO was decided to have a subscription model. (The interview is in English even though it's on a German website):

I hope this helps, Jade. If not, please feel free to get back to us at your convenience with any concerns you have regarding this issue.

Warm Regards,

Sterling,
The Elder Scrolls Online Team"

Warm Welcome Jade!

Thank you for contacting The Elder Scrolls Online Team. Great question! At this time we are subscription based and offer discounted rates for 90-day and 180-day payment cycles. You can see those prices here:

As you noted, checking the forums is the best way to keep in the loop on changes and progression of the game status. Additionally, inquiring as you have, is always encouraged.

Thank you for your continued interest and support!

All our Best,
The Elder Scrolls Online Team"

Now We realize at least that the reason they did not outright say 'no, we will not come off a subscription model' was most likely because they KNEW they were not going to keep the sub model. Just drain us suckers that wanted the game to be something amazing so badly that We would support them through Hell and highwater enough to fund their other endevours (like the console launch) and basically kick us in the ribs and not care whether We stayed or went. This is all speculation and We admit that, but We feel like it is speculation that has a decent base.

4. Since the 'console launch' stuff happened, there have been basically no updates and no plans for any real content updates. This? Not acceptable. Especially not for members that were so loyal to the game. Not only that, but it seems like all focus has predictably moved to your cash cow, the 'crowns shop.'

3. The final bit? The final bit was seeing the reward that We were supposedly getting that was also supposedly 'exclusive' for 12 month subscribing members sold just mere months after its release to other members with a vague recolour. Literally. It is the same model reskinned black.

No. Just no.

ZoS, you have been deceptive, your business practices have been questionable at best, you have provided poor updates or support for your game, and at times you have OUTRIGHT LIED.

That is enough for us, so We are cancelling our subscription.

See you on the flipside.

Agreed. The lack of content/road aheads/updates is really getting annoying. I was REALLY expecting a major update in June or July, but I now I highly doubt that that's gonna happen

Content released in 9 months of sub model: 6 updates with actual content
Content released in 5 ½ months of B2P model: pets, costumes and P2W items

I'm not a big fan either.

Imperial City should come out... August. Maybe September. "Pre-Release" is July... whatever that means.

You really have echoed what many of us feel @DireKit. These feelings have caused many players to just outright leave Elder Scrolls Online for another game. Those of us who are gluttons for punishment have hung on, with or without a subscription to ESO+.
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.
    That's right... Horse.

Indeed i still remain hopeful of changes to come but it is beyond a joke and worse is the communication from them.
