Overload Skill Questions

Just have 2 quick questions regarding some sorcerer skills:

1. Does the morph of surge called "power surge" increase the damage of overload abilities? The morph says it increases weapon damage as well as spell damage by 20% for 20 seconds, but I wasn't sure if this applied the the overload ultimate ability's light/heavy attacks as well.

2.Does the morph of bound armor called "bound armaments" increase the damage of overload's heavy attack...the sith lightning? Bound armaments says that it increases your damage with heavy attacks 11%, while also increasing your max stamina by 5%. Does this apply to overload's heavy attack?

I realize these are very specific question, but what I'm essentially trying to do is make overload as powerful as possible by slotting certain skills into the third ability bar it grants you when toggled. Just trying to get an idea of what skills will amplify its damage the most. I already have inner light on the bar.

    1. Overload's damage is calculated based on your weapon damage OR spell damage, whichever is higher. If you're a stamina build with melee weapons, your weapon damage will be higher, so surge/critical surge will boost it. If you're a caster build, you'll need to raise spell damage, so you have to go with power surge to boost overload's damage potential.

    2. In theory, yes. Bound armaments should increase overload's damage. I dont think this has ever been properly tested, though.

As far as inner light goes, if you're using a stamina/melee/weapon damage build, overload will be taking it's damage from your weapon stats, meaning the 10% spell crit that inner light provides wont effect it. Otherwise, for a caster build, inner light should work for overload.

Basically, the game goes about it like this:

-Is weapon damage or spell power higher?

--If weapon damage is higher: overload uses weapon damage and weapon critical chance to determine its performance.

--If spell power is higher: overload uses spell power and spell critical chance to determine its performance.

Ok thank you very much for the clarification. I'm a pure caster build, dumped all my points into magicka actually and just got to level 38. I'm really a glass cannon at this point, but I enjoy this play style. I'm very squishy, but that's the price you pay. I'll put those abilities you mentioned on my third bar when overload is toggled and hopefully get the most damage I can out of it.

For max DPS while Overload als Magicka build, you have Magelight+Bound Armor active (both increase max magicka, so more dmg).
You also use Power Surge or Entropy to have the +20% spellpower buff active. (Both have pros and cons, surge lasts longer, but costs far more, entropy needs to be recast more often but gives you +20% dmg on next attack with 'Might of the Guild' passive from mageguild. With passive skills, sorc skills slotted give increase in spellpower, while Mage guild gives max magicka. Use what you prefer).
When the boss is static (not moving out of it) also drop Liquid Lightning (ground AoE dot) on the boss.

For absolut maximizing you can use spellpower pots (instead of entropy/surge) and summon poth pets while overload too^^.

Also: Activate overload from Dual Wield weapon set, because you have higher spellpower.
