The console community interaction is amazingly dead

Wow I figured not having txt chat would affect it some but this is crazy, there is 0 interaction going on that I can tell. World chat is always dead, the couple guilds I've joined no one talks, this may as well be a single player game at this point. Sad really, the game is great, lack of community will hurt it bad in the long run though

They REALLY need to get the dungeon finder working to promote interaction and meeting new players. That's the only reason I play mmmorpg's. Without interaction I'll just play single player RPGs bc the game content is usually much better

Dunno where your playing. I always see people. Randomly I have run the same quests with random people without being in a party. Anchors are always slammed with ppls. I have to mute my guild chat and my zone chat just to get some peace and quiet. Not a fan boy. Well I am a fan. But I'm Xbox NA server. If anything there are too many people lol.

I always have people to chat with or that are chatting when I get on. I actually have not had an issue with communication on the PS4.

I would like just a little more chatter, but there is a healthy enough amount of group invites, trade requests, etc going on when I play on NA American server. haven't played on euro server in a few days. oh, this is on xb. helps if everyone in the thread lists server and console so we get a clear picture of who needs to speak up.
although personally I am guilty of soloing this game so far--I am having so much fun questing, crafting, and collecting--and I feel like only my xb friends are patient enough with me to understand that I need to run into town to dump into the bank and hit the craft tables.

I dont mind it at all, chat boxes are usually a cesspool and I like the vibe of an mmo without it. only thing I dont like is joining a dungeon and the group all being in a party chat and getting spammed with party invites. no I dont wanna join your party, go to game chat.

If you want to talk to people, then start talking.. alot of people are in game chat.

Have to agree. I've ran multiple dungeons and not one person has spoken. And the closest thing I've heard to a conversation in open world is a guy randomly telling passing players to F off. Game needs text chat badly.

Ya I don't know where these people commenting are getting that the chat is great, I'm on x box and I've asked in several major towns for a guild, no reply. No ones ever even communicating. I just hear random crap, someone's kid screaming, music playing, some obnoxious kid saying random crap. I've joined 3 guilds that had 10-15 people in em and have had convos with members maybe 3 times and they were brief

Yeah my experience has just about been the same OP. Even when I try to talk in towns to look for crafters to trade with etc. nothing happens. Just crickets...

I suspect the majority of those happy with the current system have friends they've played with for years on live, all in guild together, hence for them it's okay

Or else they are extremely lucky.

I agree totally with the OP and rarely play the console version now due to this.

I've seen plenty of talkers only issue I've noticed was the mic issues we had yesterday in which talking on the mic for most was impossible
  • bloodandbourbon
I see most of the time chat is down. Maybe that's the problem. Or most people stay in party chat when with friends.
  • bloodandbourbon
If they can't do a chat box, then how about at least on Xbox sync a chat box into smart glass.

I have to agree. I'm on the PS4 NA server. Very rarely do I hear people talking. I'll try to chat or even ask for trades, but no one ever answers. The only people who seem to have mics on (at least those I encounter) don't talk, it's usually just loud obnoxious noise like they're in a factory or daycare and I end up muting them. I understand having a lot of noise around, but if you're not going to use your mic, why not just turn it off or mute it... It would be nice to have people to Area chat with, especially if you're working on the same quest. Guess it's just luck if you run into another friendly and talkative player. Hopefully this will get better with time. (This is just in the Dominion areas. I haven't been to the other areas of Tamriel.)

Don't hold your breath about them fixing the dungeon / group finder tool, It's been broken since day 1 !

So even though I do agree with the chat function not being great on it, there are ways to still communicate. Make a thread just for your guild and people can post and talk in it. That is easiest solution cause we aren't getting any text chat for a while.
PSN: blinkgirl211 - if try adding me send message first cause lots of random people always tries to add me...

FTFY. Seriously though, blame the player and not the game. I am so busy talking with guildmates and fellow players in groups that sometimes it's difficult to get anything done quickly. Some people just adapt slower than others and some refuse to adapt at all.

I heard that today, and was astounded! Then the guy does on to have a bloody phonecall.. seriously annoying. The inability to mute is my bugbearer.. if I had that, it would be grand.

On a lighter note, one of my guildmates fell asleep at his console last night and started snoring. Literally sawing logs. We almost died laughing!

I purposefully stay in party chat so I don't have to hear all the people asking, "can you join my guild so I can get bank space". The worst is in Cyrodiil. As soon as you spawn at a wayshrine you get hit with 3 group invites to some zerg that doesn't even know how to take down a postern wall and wipes at the front doors everytime. I've ignored more people on ESO in a week than I have with my accumulative 6 years of COD with people telling me how well my mom performs.
  • Stories-Bones-Tell
Voice chat is a menace and from what I've seen. Most people just leave guild chat channels when they join. I personally plug my mic in, mute it and toss the ear piece to one side so I'm not blasted with static and music randomly.

Always have good communication with dungeon groups though

@dietlime Gamers are gamers, a lot of people use both or have used both at some point. I know you like to feel special or superior bc your on PC but the truth is the only difference is txt chat, communities would be just as tight on console with it.

This is the de-facto state-and-standard of the console gaming "community" (not much of one) and has been since Xbox Live's first debut that launched the hobby into greater popularity. Console gaming online is gaming with kids whose parents consider the platform a simple toy, druggies who think they're saving money as they buy their third 360, and worst of all: gamers who haven't ever experienced a real VG community but assume to have done so based on Halo 2 quickmatches.

I feel sorry if you expected player interaction from any game on the console, you were probably just ignorant of the state of affairs. Only very recently with the addition of independent voip/party applications has any real sharing or communication started; even so it usually devolves rapidly into one-upmanship.

You realize it's the type of game that defines the crowd it attracts not the system? For instance sports game crowds, shooter game crowds, Rpg, action etc. etc. This game is attracting rpg fans, many of wich used to play WoW or GW on PC. You are no different than console players, your just another rpg fan. Dosnt make you elite bc you payed an extra 300$ to play with a PC. I wipe my [snip] with 300$ it has nothing to do with cost as to why I play on console. Gaming PCs are so cheap to build now days you can build a decent one for 450$ if you know what your doing, that's only 50$ more than a PS4.
