Writ fragments and xp potions

Ok ZOS I'm somewhat confused, once again you have taken advantage of your players paying to play.

The drop rate for writ frag's is totally stupid and I mean STUPID><

How about at least giving your paying customer a better chance to receive a fragment ?

Another slap in the face to your long time customers is the stupid xp potion,

What is this ? A fix for all the complainers that don't pay and want xp faster come on ZOS really ?

    I've collected none.

I did get a purple yesterday that I hadn't learned before - surprised the heck out of me.

I've heard they are supposed to offer a recipe that increases your chances to find recipes next patch...

It's to keep you busy doing writs and spending time fishing, instead of providing new content.

And what do you get after completing all those writs and catching all those fish?

Potions to make grinding CP more efficient - to keep you busy when there's no new content...

The more people complain about drop rates or the exorbitant price of fragments, roe or xp boosters, the less time they have for complaining that there's been no new content - even though some has been due "soon" for ages...

^ What (s)he said. I'll never play a game to grind. Got better things to do, like post on forums, etc. lol

I get the bervez juice and frost mirriam A LOT from writs.

I get on average 1 perfect roe per 1k fish caught and carved.

I haven't got any of the recipe fragments, and don't know any one who has.

    BUT...

The RNG must not be TOO bad, though...the potions are already being made and sold in bulk by several people.

I posted this is another thread, but it is relevant here. I agree, the drop rates are stupid low. They should not be a provisioning writ only drop.

But here is my experience from trying out a Psijic Ambrosia drink last night.

Under normal play, it takes me about 1hr 20 min to gain 1CP grinding mobs.

Each drink for me is 50 minutes (provisioning skill for drinks extends length 20 min).

Last night, I played doing quests, and I was able to gain 1.25CP in the 50 min time frame. (109k XP). (but I was also rushing from quest to quest as quickly as possible)

I wasn't really all that impressed with it, considering the time frame it takes to fish and find a darn roe. They have a low drop rate like the recipe its self. You pretty much get 1 roe for 1hr of fishing.

If you are good with time management, you are better off spending the 1hr grinding mobs rather than fishing. You will end up with almost the same experience as using one of those drinks.

You're probably right as far as xp goes. I'm more interested in making some gold off them. As of now, the perfect roe are selling for 15-16k each. The pots are selling for around 6k each, some people even offereing to trade 3 of the pots for 1 perfect roe.

I'm confused why the pots are selling for 1/3 the price of one of the ingredients. Something I'm missing here?

That's because 1 roe makes 4 pots. So they are selling 3 individually at a certain price and keeping one for themselves most likely. ie. 1 pot for 12k x 3 = 36k total. They can make more than selling 1 roe for 20k.

ahhh, ok. That makes sense, then. I didn't realize 1 roe made 4 pots. Thanks for the info! :)

You have to have the skill for it in Provisioning, which most players get. But that's why.

That's because those players spent 2-4 million gold and bought the fragments from 7 different people lol.

    Rich people.

That's also how you're going to get a full recipe. Maybe get 1-2 drops after hundred writs or so, than trade and buy the rest.

I've done 17 writs so far, using multiple characters and 0 drops. So if you're only playing one character, getting a full recipe by playing the game only(not buying), I'm guessing that takes a year or longer.

I will have to buy the fragments to, once prices drop down a bit. No way I'm going to wait until I get all 7of them

Are you kidding? Oh no, you have to "waste your time" doing the absolute best writ that you could be doing anyway even if there wasn't a chance of a fragment from it...

It takes me about 10 minutes to do this writ on all 8 of my characters combined, which nets me a profit of about 5,000 gold from the writ reward (across my characters' different levels the quest reward averages to 650ish gold each), gives me probably a total of around a dozen purple ingredients, 20 times the amount of common ingredients I put into the writs, 8 recipes (most of which I probably already know, but still), and a small amount of XP. Yeah, it's so not worth wasting my time doing such an incredibly lucrative activity...

There's a very good reason many people (myself included) have been saying ever since writs were introduced that it's always worth it to do provisioning writs even if some of the other writs are completely not worth the effort and what you put into them.

The drop rate is fine. Rare is rare. Not something you whip up in a week....or it wouldn't be rare.
If you want potions, there are already players who are selling them. If you can afford it.

The exp potion isn't a "need". It just helps you get more exp.

I don't so much just mean the writ in its self, but also wasting the time fishing to get the mats to make the potion instead of paying outrageous prices for them. After two hours fishing tonight, filleting 300 fish and not getting any roe today.. sorry done. My time would have been better spent just grinding.

I have also been doing 3 writs a day in Craglorn and I keep getting the same two writs over and over again. Saddle cured rabbit, pickled carrot slurry, aetherian brandy and blah blah Chai tonic. All I get rewarded is a few mats of which I have plenty and green and blue recipes which I already have.

Oh, well if you're talking about the fishing, that's another story. If you don't enjoy fishing then it's totally not worth it for you to do that to get the perfect roe you need. People like me who actually enjoy fishing socially in ESO (especially when it's drunken fishing) are super happy to do the fishing and get a chance for some perfect roe, because we'd be doing the fishing anyway, so it's just a nice bonus on top of that. But if it's not something you like to do in the game, it's absolutely not worth your time. Why do anything in a game if you don't find it fun?

You should definitely do provisioning writs, though, because it takes so little time and gives you so much back.
