Crafting 'Sets'

Hey Guys,

New Xbox one player. I've been reading up on crafting sets, and am a little confused about the 'trait requirement'. I understand say for like the night's silence set it requires having two "traits" researched. Is that per piece? Meaning I have to have 2 traits researched on a chestpiece to make a chestpiece, then two random traits researched on a helm to make the helm, etc?

Or is it just having two traits researched on one piece (say a chestpiece) now enables me to craft all the armor pieces from that set?

I'm just looking for and would appreciate any kind of clarification. Thanks!

Researching a trait makes you able to craft this item with this trait. For example, you're researching heavy armour helmet with the infused trait - after you finished research, you can craft a helmet in heavy with the infused trait. Not a light or medium helmet, and not any other heavy piece.

The trait requirements for sets works like you said, you need to have those two traits on every item you want to craft with this set bonus.

The armor traits that are considered most useful are divines, infused, nirnhorned (but thats really expensive), sometimes reinforced. For weapons it would be precise, sharpened, nirn. Training is very situational, only useful if you want to speed up levelling the skill line of the weapon or armour type.

Thank you r.jan for the information. I'm still needing I guess a little clarification. For the "nights silence" set, if I wanted to craft say a helmet for it, are there specific traits for that set that need to be known, or could I do it say with whatever two traits I have researched for a helmet?

No, you don't need specific traits for any set. Only thing that counts is the number of traits for that item.

You need whatever 2 helmet traits reseached. It does have to be the correct Armor type as well. So if you want to craft a medium armor helmet, you need 2 researched medium armor helmet traits.
Jeckll has quit the game. Thanks for the great time.

Perfect, that's exactly what I was curious about and makes it all much clearer. Thank you so much.

Research the following armor traits first: Infused, Divines and Training.
Research the following weapon traits first: Sharpened, Precise and Training.

Training traits helps to level up the armor or weapon skill line more quickly.
Infused is usually best on big pieces (chest, legs, head), divines on small armor pieces.
