So I've joined a guild, when I see that they are online i select a colleague, I then select "travel to" and I arrive at their location but I see their little arrow on the screen map but they're not anywhere. What am I doing wrong? Yours Noobingly Deadfinger

    What platform are you on??

I'm on pc, so from that perspective:
ESO has a system called shards. That means that parts of the map can be different. A good example is bleakrock. the main settlement there is peacefull for new player arriving there for the first time. But after a quest you find it in fire and being invaded by bad guys. So you are in a different shard or copy of that part of the map.

The main issue is that you can't see and meet people who are in such a different shard untill he reaches the same point and is on the same point in time. so you see his arrow the map, but not the player cause he is in a different "time".

to test if this is your issue, ask the person to walk out of the area. There is often a "magical" barrier where the shards end and where you can see eachother once crossed. But if you go back you will loose eachother again.
Through me you pass into the city of woe:
Through me you pass into eternal pain:
Through me among the people lost for aye.
