I do dungeon runs and explore alot however I started this character with heavy armor and leveled it up a bit so I figured being my heavy armor lvl is higher that's why I keep getting heavy armor

You really juat have to explore or level your crafting skill. Or alternatively you can do the mages guild quests they uasually have some good items for sorcerers.

Just find a good guild like mine. We have lots a crafters who would just throw lvl 19 light armor at you. I dunno what or where you play, but try to find a good guild that can support you!

the drops you find are not connected to your skill lvls.

try to get your hand on 5 warlock items especially the 3 jewlery parts are the best you can get till lvl50 as a magica user combiine those 3 with 2 small armor parts of that set and you´ll be fine.
complement those 5 items with craftet seducer sets of the apropiet lvl. and you´re fine.

Quest items that you get are always the same item, so those don't matter which skill line you've leveled up the most.

Random drops from mobs/treasure chests/interactable objects are just that: random. There is no tie to your skill line progress at all.

I assume magicka by the light armor, I'd ask around to see if anyone can make Armor of the Seducer (or) Magnus’ Gift...which may be a little hard at the onset of consoles, but you may get lucky and find a pc transfer or someone who has been hardcore researching

If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

Yes, either getting your hands on a Warlock set (drops from 15-23, I believe) or a Seducer/Magnus crafted set would be best. Or both, since Warlock has jewelry and that allows you two 5-piece bonuses.

I'm having the same trouble with my sorcerer and tend to just wear whatever I find that has a magic boost on it...I think I have a piece of armor from all 3 types that looks like I got dressed in the dark :p

I assume that crafting is where it's at for getting the best gear that so I'm slowly leveling mine by deconstructing everything and storing all materials until I'm ready to create a bunch of stuff.

You can re-enchant any piece of armor if you have a level-appropriate glyph, so you could just change your pieces that have stamina enchants to magicka enchants.

Either hope to get lucky with Warlock set drops, or craft your own. Crafting in this game is easy to level, actually useful and worth doing unlike many other mmo's. Just make sure you deconstruct everything to gather ingredients.

Get a set of Seducer/magnus made for you. It works great but can only be made in even levels non veteran.

Assuming you're on console? If so it might be hard to find affordable Warlock jewelry that some people are suggesting. Your best bet is to level up your crafters or to pay someone to make armor for you. Seducer / Magnus' are both low trait requirement (3 and 4) so those might be your best bet.

If you can find warlock jewelry then by all means use that with 2 armor pcs and 5 Magnus' crafted set (or Seducer if you're really hurting for regen but if you're wearing Warlock and hurting for regen then you're doing something wrong).
    For the Covenant!
    Svvord - magicka NB
    Lavv - magicka DK
    Povver - stamina NB
    Psylint - stamina NB
    Yelruc - magicka Sorc

at 19 it isn't important to have sets or really good gear.

If you like crafting, you can make a basic set of greens pretty easily.

You do want to get type you want though.

Random is random, so sometimes I replace a really low level piece of gear with something off a NPC Armor vendor in town and slap a vendor glyph on it.
