I cleaned 600 fish, on fish 610 and 615 I got the elusive roe, so yep your luck can be bad for a long time, RNG, has haunted me from game to game it seems..:(

I think I am just going to work up my Master Angler achievement and, what ever I have I have, I don't see myself spending hours on this(any more hours), after looking at the duration vs time spent I could have gained a lot of xp in the time I wasted trying to get more roe.

Can't do more than one writ a day, just another way ZOS Punishes people for not rolling Alts.
I caught 5 fish Tuesday, filled for 3 roe. Thought, ok they won't *** us like I thought. Well today filleted 350 and got nothing.
I can't believe people had the entire recipe the first day, with in hours of the hot fix.

The people that had it the first day were mostly guild-designated Provisioners.

Basically, everyone in the guild with a character or alt capable of doing level VI provisioning writs did them on every character and gave the one person all the recipe fragments in order to get at least one guildy capable of stocking their kiosk with Ambrosias (at 25k a pop, though that has thankfully dropped considerably and will continue to).

Sorry to heard that you have been unlucky, but it should work. Unless you were on Console. the patch was not up at that time.

Feeling your pain, buddy. I wasted my precious game time for two days running trying to get roe, with a desire to make some sort of move toward making these things having not got a fragment yet. No love from the RNG gods for me either. And I can only do the writ once a day too.

People already have this recipe because there are players who have high ranked alts already. The cruel truth is, these boosters are no help to casual players, and tbh we are the ones who need them most.

I was so disappointed at not getting a fragment today I couldn't even bring myself to play out the session. I guess its because I was looking forward to these boosters, but in the cold light of day they are in fact a reward for established players and something I won't be able to make for a VERY long time. Meanwhile, those they were meant for leave me in the dust. I guess its okay, I was standing in the dust already. :)

Can't believe how unlucky you were. I've been getting 2 every 100 roughly.

    RNG is random.

If you're not familiar with the term it's something like this,

RNG stands for random number generator. It was first used for MUDS (in the gaming world) to do dice rolls.

Look at it like this, you have about a 1 percent chance (I don't know this for sure, just using it as an example) to get one. That doesn't mean that 1 in every 100 will be one. It means that every time you skin a fish the system randomly generates a number from 1-100. So you may get 1 in every 100 rolls. Or you may get 10 out of every 1000. That means though that you could go 800 or so rolls without getting 1 (technically speaking you could never get one, statistically speaking you should get 1 in 100)

I don't know for sure if this game bases the roll this way. Educated guess.

This is exactly why crafting this item is counter productive. Better off spending the time grinding exp. Only way to actually make use of the exp booster is to straight up buy it unfortunately.

I think they just added the craft-able version so it would seem the item isn't P2W, yet anyone who takes a second to think about it can clearly see that it is.

Lol exactly. Spend hours fishing vs 5 seconds clicking "BUY". While you're still fishing the people that bought the boosters outright are grabbing their Champion Points. :astonished:

24 writs done and no Fragments

622 Fish to get one roe for myself

Suggestion would be to add Perfect Roes to Provision hirilings rather than rely just on RNG of writs

luckily I have saved all my Crowns (Sub 1500) since it went live so have some for potions#

vr 1-10 is fun and fine but 11-14 is a nonsence xp grind unless your lucky to get craglorn groups which isnt something I get very often ansd thats where these potions come in handy i guess

looking forward to when the new system is implemented and hopefully vr doesnt exist as it does now.

Wait, so you've done 3 writs? Maybe 4? And you were so disappointed that out of those 3 or 4 writs you didn't get a fragment that you couldn't bring yourself to keep playing? Just how high did you expect the drop rate to be on these?

As an altaholic I've got 8 characters doing writs (6 at max level, 2 aren't VR yet so they can't do max level writs even though they're at provisioning 50 with 6/6 improvement passives), and I'm now at a total of 28 writs (I got bored one day and didn't do writs on every character), and 3 fragments. Frankly, so far the drop rate is higher than I expected.

It doesn't require everyone to participate in the rush for this item to have a negative effect. I know from experience that a few groups can totally dominate PvP to the point that people just log off or find something else to do. That margin will be increased significantly if and when those groups keep this buff with 100% uptime.

OP: I feel your pain. This happened to me with Nirncrux. I got one the first time I went to UC with my guild and then it took me months to find another one. I had started doubting their existence.

Now I get them fairly regularly. It does even out. I joke that the game knows what you are looking for and gives you something else instead.

For those who want the potion for the XP: it will be more efficient if you just get gold to buy the potions. Anything that gives you gold also gives you XP, so you are killing two birds with one stone. Fish if you have time to kill (IE, you are looking for a group to form or something). But otherwise, you'll be better off getting the potions from other players.

Of course, if you avec like me and consider getting the recipe a challenge and are looking for the fishing achievements, harvest away!

A bit precious, of me... Yeah.

But dude...i just have one character. I'm glad you got a small army working on this, but I got one guy. I know the drop rate, and I know its going to be months before I can craft these things. I was really just hoping to make a start, and I can't even get any roe out of the rng gods let alone my first fragment. This method of obtaining all seven fragments is great for guys like you, and pretty lousy for guys like me. I'm sure you'd be creating boosters for your small army before the end of the month. If I want them by then, it's going to be a purchase. But hey...i can probably just buy them from you, right?

RNG is NOT random. Computers are incapable of truly random numbers. That's why they call it pseudo-random.

Before you say, "well, it's close enough", it's well known that most computer based RNGs are FAR streakier than true random numbers, and programmers typically use standard library based RNGs, rather than programming their own and building in code to smooth out some of that streakiness.

    of course.

this in game version directly competes with cash shop therefore is so insanely rare that the only real option to get it reliably is the cash shop. Luck based drops always favor the pay to win.
