What's all the rage about those two? I'm a khajit so why would I be werewolf when I'm already beast and I have fangs so why be vampire?

Lol, seriously tho. Why's everyone willing to pay 1000s to be one? I didn't really think they were that great in past ES games but is the case much different here?

Because there is no draw back to werewolves unless transformed. You also get a free +15% Stamina Regen bonus when in combat. Why not be a Werewolf?

They're not that great. Not enough to be worth spending any gold on. I mean, don't get me wrong: I've got a whole bunch of WW characters and a few vampires too. I like them. It's not worth spending anything on though. If you can get a free bite, or get infected by a mob, sure go for it. But don't pay for it.

Oh, and even if you don't plan on ever wolfing-out, it's worthwhile to be a werewolf because there are no penalties except in WW form, and you get a +15% stamina regeneration bonus even in non-WW form. Still not worth paying for (and possibly getting scammed).

Yup expecting that to go away, like the overpower vampire stuff did, give it time and poison and fighter guild stuff will work on them.

Granted the poison weakness should be all around if your recovering stamina faster.

You can blame the Twilight movies.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

So pretty much the same then? Little buff here and there but nothing special? Aside from stamina buff

No, not only "little buffs", there is more to it. You get a whole new skill line. Vampires get 2 new abilities and an ultimate. They can drain enemies' health/stamina/magicka back and also turn into a shadow mist, being invulnerable to CC and taking 75% less damage. The ultimate either turns you invisible for a certain amount of time during the ultimate or the bats drain everyone's health in the area, giving you an insane health drain.
As for the passives, they can enter sneak faster during night, move way faster while sneaking, regenerate magicka (I think?) faster - it's called "Supernatural Recovery" and also can turn other players into a vampire. And I think there's 1 more that I can't remember.
The downside of being a vampire gets bigger as you hunger and your vampirism stage grows higher. You regenerate your health slower during the day and you are weak to fire, which can be a struggle in PvP but can be managed.

Werewolfs have useful passive bonuses that are affecting the player in human form. Your ultimate is transforming into a werewolf and then you gain new abilities. One is leap for example, or infected claws and roar.

In my opinion, ESO's players are much more into having these useful passives and abilities rather than doing it for the visage or having the "supernatural" feel.

So, heres how bite Econimy works in ESO, you have lazy people, PvP only people, and people like me who enjoy every bit of the game.

The lazy and PvP only people pay for bites, because its easyer, plus in PvP it's easy as *** to make a boat load of gold since everything costs alliance points not gold.

The cost per bite differs, some ask for 1000, others 5000, the reason you "pay" is desperation or because they have to go out of their way to go to a shrine, and bite you. Not everyones enthralled with dropping everything JUST to bite you, so they say "give me 1000" it's the cost you pay to have them go and do something for you. I usually just force people to pay my transit costs >_>

Regardless that's how it works, as for the people who enjoy the game, then go and get themselves bit. Please note the night cycles alternate and when Bloodfiends and Werewolves are killed they don't respawn, most who charge over 5000 are also what we call "poachers" whom kill the Bloodfiends and Werewolves then have the audacity to charge for bites.
