Whats with the sizes of the "patches"

Wow another 2.8gb PATCH?
When I bought this game had I known that the " PATCHES " were going to be so large as to having to DL what amounts to a new game every WEEK, I may not have bought it at all.
IDK but here is the definition
A patch, sometimes just called a fix, is a SMALL piece of software that's used to correct a problem, sometimes called a bug, with a software program or even an operating system.
Small being the keyword in that definition. I find it hard to believe that everything in these ridiculous "PATCHES" fit that criteria.
Please give the fans and more importantly the customers of your game a break, or at least compensate us with crown points or something
anything for all the time we the customers have to wait to play the game because of a 3 gig patch.

so let me apologize now
I am truly sorry, you do have a good game and i do like playing it; its just to bad it requires a 2-3 gb updates every week.

✭✭✭✭✭Lazy programmers. The way the resource files are structured (on the PC at least) it's hard to just replace/update parts of them so some genius at ZOS decided they would simply replace the whole file at once even if only a few 100k actually changed.
It's been like that since the very beginning two years ago and i gave up complaining about it a long time ago ...

LOL . You are new around here. Sorry this is a long dead thoroughly beaten horse . Leave it be and just accept it as one of those fun aspects of playing ESO.
PS . ✭✭It's how they insert the material to be made available through Crown Store hotfixes later on. You pre-load it in an earlier patch and then they flip the switch later on... or at least that is how it seems given the ability to datamine future items out of them...
..Well, that and what @SirAndy said. Resource file replacement, rather than modification, really does seem to be the modus operandi with ZOS patches.0 -

wrlifeboil✭✭✭✭✭Even WoW had big patches back in the early days although big back then was 400-800MB. Remember ZOS is new at mmos. It'll take a few years for their technology to catch up.
Enjoy the game for what it is, an Elder Scrolls offshoot. If you're looking for cutting edge mmo gameplay, ESO isn't probably where you should be looking.0 -
