I love this game...

I love the whole 1-50 levelling experience and the non-vet PvP, fantastic. But Vet PvP servers have destroyed my will to play anymore, dying in milliseconds to countless attacks before I have a chance to do anything is demoralising.

The difference between VR1 and VR14, well anything below VR14 and VR14 is a chasm I have no wish to grind through, to only end up being destroyed by people with more CP. I love TES games, but I hate the fact I can not play this one - not one bit.

I would love to L2P but I have very little chance to learn anything in the moments I am alive. However I am very good at horse riding.

I have a VR1 Sorc, VR10 NB, VR7 Templar, VR1 DK. I level up to vet PvP because that is what I enjoy and then I cant play it anymore so I start a new character. Anything under VR14 in PvP is an absolute joke. 900 spell power at VR1... woooh!

Ya the champion system is derpworthy. It discourages new people from playing because they'll never catch up, and it urges people to quit if they don't want to grind forever. frickin awesome.

The game just needs a smart auto-balancing to put any character under VR14 to be "battle levelled" to VR14 status. Otherwise, there's such a huge discrepancy in play quality that it leaves lesser VR characters at a significant loss.

    Vr1: 900 spell power and 15 000 Hp

    Vr14: 2 500 spell power and 22 000 Hp

Pfffftttt... I got my main to V14, and am working on getting my secondary character through the veteran ranks grind, V8 and counting... (as well as some crafting alts, and class test alts...) and yeah, in Cyrodil I get to respawn a lot. Even with my V14. But that has been like this ever since i started poking my nose in there, back when my main was still V1... so I am used to it, take it as part of the experience, and look where I can grab a bit of success despite not being up to what the PvP-fanatics can do. And when I do manage some of that, it feels all the sweeter...

If you don't do the grind, you can't complain that those who do are better then you in PvP. And if you do... you will forever lag behind those who did it as well, and have been doing it longer then you have. So? What's new with that? Just don't challenge those guys to solo combat... but gang up on 'em. Which, since cyrodil isn't an "mano e mano" arena, or one of those fixed group warzones other games have, is quite possible. of course, sometimes you will also run into larger groups from the other side, and respawn yet again. Shrug, move on, have better luck next time.

Personally I dislike games that try to level everything and everyone in the name of balance. If one does the effort, they desrve to enjoy more effect, that's my opinion. Even when I am often among those who are disadvantaged by this. Then one has to remember that quantity has a quality of its own...

    Wow. Srsly.
Go in a PVE guild and L2P. go in a pvp guild and L2P.

Got my V2 through Sanctum Ophidian in a speed trial complete. with a 8-10k dps single target on mantikora
Some friends did Vet DSA at v3 WITH a weekly leaderboard time.

and my V14 uber NB gets killed sometimes by V1 that have good counter skills and specs against my NB.

So please, solution is get into a guild that makes sense, ask for help, learn to play

    Skills are what matters most

But I only want to play PvP, the amount of time it would take to get a VR1 to VR14 in Cyrodiil when you are so heavily gimped is ridiculous. Yes I don't mind dying a lot, but not having a chance is an entirely different matter.

Also, sometimes I want to group up and others I do not. I am not saying that everyone should be the same but the way the game is at the moment everyone at VR14 may as well be.

Also, even in a group it's insta death.

Being lead in to a false sense of security on non-vet servers, entereing the vet servers is a massive shock to the system. The current setup will lead to people giving up, less players, less interesting, definately the way to keep a game going.

In fact when I come to think of it, not only is the combat section of PvP less fun in vet servers, the chat and communication in zone on vet is generally lacking in comparison. There seems to be more of a, lets fight together to reach the common goal on non-vet.

It's also an issue due to gear. The VR14 can be running around in Storm Knight or Martial Knowledge gear, both of which have much higher spell damage outputs. The eqv. gear does not exist at VR1. You end up facing a gear/equipment challenge due to that and that alone.

Skill aside, a VR1 Nightblade wearing Hunding's Rage is most likely not going to survive against VR14 Nightblade wearing the same gear. The damage output changes in the gear alone make a huge difference, let alone if somebody's rocking something like the Ravager set.

Skill can make up a lot of the shortcomings but only to a degree. The gear disparity is much more pronounced for certain classes (e.g. VR1 sorc -vs- VR14).

I have been playing this game a long time, I know how to "play". I do not believe I am a great player, I thought I was average. I have played games for a long time, average suits me fine. But perhaps I am not average but instead only slightly capable to move the mouse and press keys at the same time let alone look at my monitor.

In non-vet I can take 2/3 people on at once and win. In vet I can be part of a 2/3 man group and the other guy only needs look at me before I die. What specifically can I learn to not die so quickly. I could try and roll dodge on my Magika Templar and then not have enough stam to break free. I could put my shield on perhaps and then have to reapply it less than a second later, spam a heal and still die.

Tell me how to mitigate this damage. 2 heavy, 5 light sword and board templar with burning shield, healing ward and channelled focus and all I can do is spam skills to stay alive.
