New Legal Agreement Xbox One

I am wondering what is in the "new" legal agreement, I cannot play the game unless I read through endless legal jargon of which I really don't understand it all due to it being in "legal jargon" so I have paid for a game I cannot now play and purchased crowns for which I cannot now use because I don't want to read through endless legal jargon of which i don't understand, for all I know it might say we can siphen your credit card of funds for a year and I would never know until I get the bill (probably not the case) but why am I being asked to agree to this tosh a week after buying the game? And if I dont agree I cant play it?? I'm wondering if this is actually legal!

Like all legal agreements, you've to say yes if you want to play (but you know this already). So send it to your lawyer if you are that concerned as they are the only ones to find anything you can't find by quickly scanning it.

To sum it up its basically you agreeing that use of the game comes with terms and condations such has no cheating, no selling in game things for irl money and so on, and that the nature of the game may change while playing it or over time...staranded online gaming stuff.

Just my thoughts on the matter not a lawyer so not advice from that stand point, just a random internet idiot and pyscho's two crowns on the matter.

Take it you don't play a lot of games that much online or read the stuff you agree to when you play things through xbox one and sign up for that type of live service, its all basically the same really just with changes here and there.

Agreements for online games like mmos change often and you have to agree each time even a slight wording change is done to the agreement so it stays valid....so learn to love it and hope no one makes typos writing this stuff!

"Legal jargon" consists of real words with actual definitions. Just read through it and look up the words you don't know...

Get used to it or don't play MMOs.

I expect the Xbox live has similar updated agreements you are required to accept to continue to use the service you already paid for. It's life.

The last update for them was 2014

Suspect when win 10 goes live it will get updated again has the xbox and windows 10 stuff gets hooked up or after that though

Doesn't seem to be one of those things you always see clearly in front of your face also depending on how you create a account, it has one of those check boxes next to a link so could miss it

You could always hire a lawyer to explain it to you if scrolling down to press Yes isn't an acceptable solution.

You don't actually need to read it. You just need to scroll down to the bottom and then click a button to say you've read it so that if you ever get banned for breaking any of the rules you can't complain that ZOS never told you it wasn't allowed. It's actually there to protect them from you suing them.

Of course you probably should read it, just like you should have read it before you played the game originally and should have read the one for your contract with your internet provider, your Xbox Live/PSN account if you're playing on a console, or your PC/sites you ordered parts from, your Facebook account, your mobile phone etc. etc. etc.

A lot of things have these types of agreements these days. And speaking as someone who does read (well, skims) them some of the time in the vast majority of cases it's absolutely nothing for you to worry about. It's all very basic stuff like you agreeing that ZOS advertising the game as not requiring a subscription doesn't mean that they will pay for your internet connection and agreeing that you won't sell in-game items for real money.

They have to put it at the beginning because they are legally required to make you aware of it before you start using their services (in this case the game), but chances are it will never be an issue for most people.

(Also fun fact: Once on April Fools Day GameStation, a UK company, added a line to the terms and conditions of their website store that anyone using it agreed the company got their soul. The only consequence was that the 12% of people who actually took the time to read it and clicked the 'opt out' button next to that bit hidden in the middle got a £5 voucher.)
