It's not pay to win if everyone can get the same thing without spending real cash to get it simple as that.. if you pay real cash for something that you CANNOT get in the game in any other fashion, THEN it becomes pay to win

They think anything period is pay to win that you pay for. The one guy even thinks that paying for the box and paying for plus is "pay to win". You are talking to people who dont want to hear the truth. Meanwhile ZOS is a company based on making money. The people who code this game have houses, car notes, insurance bills, kids and all the stuff everyone else does. How can they keep this game going for free? Anyways they arent having any of that lol.

yes there are no other ways to make money....

The Championssystem + P2Wboosts seperate the playerbase and unbalances the game, i could not imagine a worse combination for this game.
A elderscrolls game should be not about farming, there are so much better things to do in this universe and players want to pay for with a smile.

Is there anthing positive about the Championssystem and boosters?
linear seperating unbalancing, advertised as induvidialism creating character defining feature?
At the end in years every character is the same. and until then there will never be any balance ingame.

I don't understand why people get so bent out of shape about things in the Crown Shop, P2W. If anything, people should be GLAD there's stuff in there people are willing to drop real-life money on. Anyone who honestly expects ZoS to develop new content on subs alone needs to be given a serious reality check.

Not to mention the fact that there will always be people who are farther ahead than others no matter what is or isn't introduced. What does it matter either way? Why do people get so worked up over what other people spend their money on? People complain about lack of content, then turn around and scream when ZoS pads the CS with stuff people will buy with real money that will in turn go to developing new content.

Pay To Win is if you could take Crown Perfect Roe, "enchant" a Crown Perfect Companion, and she pops out Perfect Half-Fish Babies that swim all around Tamriel gathering XP for you for 24 hours even if you're offline.

That's the kind of design travesty that merits the P2W tag.

Not sure how the XP potion is p2w when it is apparently quite easy to craft (fishing mat is a 1 in 20 fish drop), epic provisioning mats you get from the daily writ. The hard part is getting the recipe. It's a good money maker for fishermen and cooks - a nice crafting addition to the game.

@zos like seriously. I'm not mad about the potions of p2w or what ever. Your going to allow champion points grinders to double the gap of average players. What is your logic here how many more mistakes can you seriously make. You are going to add more problems not fixing existing ones. Ending sub good job @zos! You guys really take the cake. This is just sad at this point. Haven't seen one intellectual post by any dev in 6 months and your going to keep the broken train rolling! Honestly guys think please stop stealing everyone's money and breaking a game a lot of people love.

    Simple.

Times in this game (and with the actually champion system) = power

    XP boost = time

If you can buy time that you give you power, then it's p2w.

    Money = time = power

the craftable item need a lot of time to be crafted.

*facepalms repeatedly* How does one win in a mmorpg exactly? How are you winning by taking the easy way out and spending real money? There are no winners in an ongoing game. You look like a donkey every time you imply this and you really don't know the real meaning of pay to win if you're applying it to this freaking game!!! You're entitled to your opinion and I am mine but kids stop this craziness already :( Trust me, you'll know when this game turns into a game where only people with money can survive in PVP, make leaderboards, or however else you loosely define paying to win in an mmorpg. You still have to play, the xp isn't handed out simply by purchase for Pete's sake!

XP potion for CP is not pay to win.

CP is already soft capped at 1 point per day (enightenment bonus). 100k xp per account is easy to get for everybody.

To get more than 1 CP per day you have to earn 400k XP per CP = you have to be a hardcore grinder if you want the extra CP. If you are a hardcore grinder that means you have a lot of gold from playing the game a lot and looting things you grind. Therefore, you being a hardcore CP grinder = you having a lot of gold = you can buy the craftable XP potions which are just as powerful as the shop ones.

Call me when they start selling gear/tokens or doing unethical stuff like gambling lockboxes (cosmetic only or not, either way its gambling)

I remember that Developers mentioned that the boosters will not affect CS, am i wrong?

This is Pay2win at its best.

There should be mechanics to catch up in this boring, linear, player separating system what nothing contribute to player individualism as advertised.
At the end all players are the same. CS should be reworked completely anyway.
Change the name in "Money Generating System" with the slogan "you want to play, together and competitive, then pay."
At Least sub should give the full bonus!
    .
    .

when full pots of ambrosia is avialable in the store, then come back to this thread.

until then, i dont see how +XP boost is different than ESO+....

until crown store has something that increase magicka/health/stam or spell/weapon damage, or increase health bubble or shield or stuff like that.... UNTIL THEN........

then the sky is not falling.

nothing to see here. move along.

What do CPs give you? Oh yeah, "increase magicka/health/stam or spell/weapon damage, or increase health bubble or shield or stuff like that"

So you can pay money to get CPs faster then other players.

Quite simple, p2w model. UNLESS, perfect roe is fairly common. Then it's not. It's pay for convenience. We'll see.

Wrong, P2W is pay money to get stronger. Becoming stronger faster is not P2W.

    Yes. It is.

Making a purchasable advantage available in-game through significant amounts of in-game hours of play was the first change microtransaction games made in response to player's negative response. What Zenimax is doing here is no different. The pay to win line was crossed with crown repair kits (which allow savings hundreds of thousands of gold on repairs). I think what experience boosts offer is worse since they reaching the stats cap via gear is much faster than reaching it via champion points.
End the tedious inventory management game.

    Fixed that for you.

They could be creating more new content (DLCs), they could be creating options to change your name/faction, appearance etc.
They could be working on new cosmetics, these have done extremely well for other online games, where most income comes from cosmetics sales (MOBAs for instance).
Or they could be working on incentivizing the subscription more. The most played MMO in the world seems to be doing fine with them.

If anything, creating ways to force you to spend money in order to stay competitive is going to ensure they find more such ways, rather than creating that new content and relying on that for revenue, a much healthier option for us gamers who care about quality & such things.

Oh really? So the bright idea is letting them get ahead 50% faster.

And what does it matter how people spend their money indeed? Why shouldn't I just go bribe the referees in this football match, or sell some arms to conflict zones. Who cares, right?

The fact that PvE grind spots get nerfed instantly while places like Cracked Wood Cave are ignored is also baffling.

It's very sad that this game started out as a place supposedly free of *** like this, but now we are a year later and it's slowly turning into any other P2W MMO.

Where have I heard all this before?

That South Park episode ("Freemium isn't free") hit the nail on the head that time. Really illustrates the psychology used creating revenue for app games like candy crush by implementing something like a cash shop. But it can also be stretched to help describe the phenomena of cash shops in MMOs as well.
