I think they were under the impression this was E3 2014, we heard it all before nigh on a year ago.

After E3 last year, I thought this was just a repost of the same video!

Some the comments in here as cringe worthy. Many of you did not want to believe that ESO would be part of the press conference and even though it was a small portion, there was a presence for the game and it was mentioned many times. The fact that they say "THIS YEAR" seems to have not been heard by some of you.

I understand there has been a long wait, but it seems like they were waiting for this to talk about it and I am sure more details will emerge shortly. Again, this is GREAT news and I love that they were part of the conference when many here thought that they would not even mention ESO at the show.

They said "this year" in 2014 most of the year. The same thing has been said in 2015, and it's been crickets so far... not only would you have heard dates, at least as specific as a month which is already rarely done because of how vague it would be... but when a delay hit, you would have a lot of info pouring out about why, what they intend to do to get it out asap, and what improvements will be made in exchange. Instead we subscribed thinking we were getting Orsinium and the Imperial City, perhaps even Spellcrafting... and now the game's gone buy to play/free to play and we'll be asked to pay out of pocket for it additionally. That's why everyone's more than a little jaded, by now ;).

-First-Wave Closed Beta Tester of the Psijic Order, aka the 0.016 percent.
Exploits suck. Don't blame just the game, blame the players abusing them!

-Playing since July 2013, back when we had a killspam channel in Cyrodiil and the lands of Tamriel were roamed by dinosaurs.
    ________________
-In-game mains abound with "Nerf" in their name. As I am asked occasionally, I do not play on anything but the PC NA Megaserver at this time.

Here is the trailer. Looks cool and all but nothing about release date except for the "soon" default answer.

im only interested in 3 things:

    1. PvP in Imperial city: a boss PICKED UP A GUY AND SLAMMED HIM ON THE GROUND. Can NPC really do that? That'll be awesome.
    2. Orsinium bar: a guy drinking in a bar. IS THAT A NEW MOTIF? The Devil-like helmet??? YES!
    3. Black hand: thief guild. YES.

Can someone explain to me why this game is universally hated upon?

So I was watching the Bethesda E3 conference livestream on twitch. Chat was gushing over Doom, Dishonored 2 when their bits came up, with countless "take my money now!", "bethesda is love, bethesda is life" messages in the chat. But when it came time for the ESO presentation, the chat was 100% against the game. The chat was just a stream of /yawn emotes, "boring", "what is this ***?", "get this *** off the screen", "lol they're still talking about this? this game died four months after launch", "wow is better" messages. The ESO teaser barely got any applause and the twitch audience reaction was even worse than for the Hearthstone and Battlebarge Splatoon ripoff games announced during the conference.

    Why the hate?

Just even looking at the ESO E3 trailer that was posted to youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNMdyGw-IL0. First comment I see is:
    "
This game is ***. Don't buy into the hype. Awful graphics and little to no content. Just look at the number of levels, only 50 while a game like WoW has 100 - double the gameplay right there. Claims to be a "massively multiplayer" game but has no organized pvp and the "raids" are limited to 12 ppl. How is that "massive"? Again, compare to the market leader - WoW, Wildstar have 40 man raids and 2v2 arenas. You don't know what massive is until you get 40 friends together to raid molten core, not fart about in the 12 man "raids" ESO has.

Awful, awful, awful. All that is keeping Bethesda afloat is Fallout 4, all their other studios push out turds of games.
    "

coz its nothing new and we're getting impatient......

....for a couple of months now.

The other games you mentioned? Are not MMO and they don't have subscription option.

Last night was the Second Coming of Todd Howard. You can tell that guy is In love with video games and is really just making games that he wants to play so in result that mentality creates games that are amazing. I really wish he would have been involved with eso. Things would have been a lot different.

It's sad what has happened to ESO. When I see everyone jeer at the trailer on twitch and a polite reaction from the crowd, it's disheartening. It's a fun game with a lot of potential. Potential. And in the right hands I think it could become something great like Swtor did. I mean think back to Swtor. There was a game in the same position after launch. Everyone was sure that game was headed into server mergers to obscurity and shutdown. Head devs were fleeing, for god sakes it was so bad that the founders of bioware left the game industry to craft beer instead!

But the people left at the studio rallied. You could tell they loved the game and didn't want to see it die. Now it's always in the weekly top ten list of PC games that people play the most. ESO is no where near that list on the PC. I want to see ZOS rally like that. Swtor proves that you can come back no matter how bad the black eye.

They really need a new PR/Advertising dept. I mean this was an opportunity to get the fans excited. An opportunity to reinstill some hope for veteran ESO players and to generate hype for potential new players. But once again, it was flat. So very flat. There was no sense of urgency. No sense of excitement. No sense of impending greatness.

ESO has SUCH potential. I think that's why so many people stick around. But this was hard to watch. It couldn't have been more dull, redundant or vague. That twitch stream had around 500k viewers at the time of the ESO presentation. Such a wasted opportunity.

I just don't understand. A used car salesman could do a better job creating hype for ESO.

i agree with u but ur using the wrong example.

a used car salesman can make ANYTHING sounds excellent. that's too high of a standard.

i say a 6 yr old and a jug of lemonade down the street can do a better job creating a hype.

I am completely befuddled by it, too.

I am trying to figure out why they are so reluctant to talk about their game. They should be taking every opportunity to talk about it, and the E3 showcase was a BIG opportunity. The very minimum bar for that event should have been Matt Firor on stage talking about the game for 5 minutes.

They really should change out the Creative Directors. I mean the top guys not the folks trying to get ESO working and trying to fix things with what they still have. I mean the top guys and also the Marketing guys. Come on... At least show a bit of excitement for your own product.

There are still folks who love the game. Like me. For example. But to see what is going on is really disheartening.

Sadly the amount of time they spent there and on ESO in general this week will show just how low on the totem pole that ESO is.

ESO makes the red headed step child seem important compared to the staff and attention Fallout 4 , Doom , and Dishonored 2 will get.

Sad , because I enjoy the actual game.

Just the management of it is terrible.

And people wonder why players are at the end of their rope with this company. 500k viewers watching that on twitch alone, half a million potential customers. And look what they did. Basically nothing. In fact that was probably worse than nothing.

I'm waiting for the xp potion recipe ingredients.

Given the critical meltdown caused on US Servers by looking at recipes it may be wise to not wish for this just yet.

PS: Who wants to bet they roll out the EU Patch with the same error still intact?

I totally think the "We Know" in the context given had double meanings. Yes it is the trademark of the Dark Broothhood that we've adopted over the years, but...

"We know" could have also served as "We know you guys wanted more info, too bad," "We know this sucked," "We know we told you, and teased you all this stuff over a year ago," and then the remnants of the player base, "We know about all of this from last year...."

Well the video by itself had any relvance only because KAi Shrober confirmed that their would be 2 DLC's out this year, meaning Imperial city/Orisnium and likely Dark Brotherhood as free content since that will be a system with a skill line.

If you count back 12 weeks(6 weeks per Patch) from Christmas time that makes early September the latest that we'll have to wait for Imperial city if they want to meat that timetable. If you further consider that it takes up to 1 month after PC to validate for console release then I would say we'll likely have imperial City hit the PTS in September for an August release.

So today at 6:45pt Bethesda is holding their big E3 event! Pretty excited! Also really wondering if ESO is going to seize this opportunity to step up to the plate and reveal some info on the future of ESO!

Maybe they will announce that their console launch was the worst in gaming history and publicly apologize to all the players they robbed out of $60 knowing that a majority of their fans would not be able to play.
