What's new in the past couple months?

Hello everyone,

due to college and having a lot of to study I had to stop playing ESO since around November/December, but since I love this game and have only the best memories of it, I decided that this is the time to get back to it. But it seems like there is so much more new that I am just confused pretty well.
So I was wondering if anyone could enlighten me into what's new? I've noticed that it is free to play now, which is I guess fine but takes away that kind of a special feeling that I had to it, lol. Anyway I am mostly interested if there is any new content/DLC.

Thanks a lot

If you feel bad about no longer paying a monthly fee you can subscribe to TESO Plus.

This allows you to pretty much keep paying the sub even though you don't have to.

There are perks you get for being a TESO Plus member as well. In game Crown Currency giving you access to stuff that allow you to do things or look somewhat unique or have a horse ages before non-sub members can afford them.

Also the game just released on consoles so the Forums are full of people asking all the questions PC people did when the game released for them.

Yeah, I've found out about the console's release too just now, but I've seen MANY people complain about the lag and loading screens.
Anyway, how is it with DLC's such as Dark Brotherhood or Thieves Guild? Have they been added already or...? Also the Justice system?

I was planning on reading all the patch notes later on, but now I'm just asking straight away because I still have a lot of work for college to finish my semester so therefore I can't read all this 6 months of a patch notes, lol.

And btw, yeah, I've noticed the Crown Currency and ESO Plus, I really like it.

What has changed/been aded in the past half a year?

Aside from 1.6 and the justice system, nothing has been truly added and all that did was just provide a more fleshed out TES feel to the game, there has not been any proper content added since November I do believe. It is starting to show, most people I used to play with regularly have left the game until new stuff is added. Hopefully the Imperial City will be out by the end of this month/start of the next.

No they haven't. They added grinds to old content. No new content was added since november unless you see the champion system or a horse to the crown store as "content".

I've just finally downloaded all the patches 6-8 months old and got into the game. The justice system definitely feels more TES-like and I also noticed the Champion points. Also, have there been any changes to horse leveling? Has it only increased or what? I remember my horse's stats and it seems now that they are either lowered or the maximum stats have been increased.

Also, could anyone briefly explain Champion points?

I also have somewhat recently come back after a few months break. Here is what happened :
    1.6+ happened

-The pve has been reduced to one single mechanic "More DEEEEPS!!!". And now you can do a lot "Moar Deeps" much easier and in more ways. If you havee enough of the ''Moar Deeps ' most vet bosses will not even do any of their tricks before they are dead.Even in PUGS.
-if you had more of a decent dps /support role before stop that nonsense and just do moar Deeps. It is not that you can do that anymore since most of those options were made totally impractical.

-The champ system has added many new layers of complexity and choice and consequences to your builds. You must now really ponder how you will split between: reduced skill cost and regeneration and a bunch of worthless stuff, more resist and a bunch of stuff, between moar DEEPs, moar crit Deepz and a bunch of worthless stuff. You will have a lot of fun time figuring the vagaries of the chump system.

-the removal of dynamic ultimate generation. Oh. this is truly a joy. As everyone expected, this really opened up the game a lot and added a huge amount of gameplay diversity. Now everyone must really play intelligently, use light attacks to keep their generation going and use Ice Comet or Shooting star exactly when the moment is right ....right to do moar Deepz.

PS: I am actually a deepz guy that likes to deepz so yah the game is truly awesome now.

Owhhhhh it should be noted that XP got slammed with the nerf bat to go with the Champion System, especially Craglorn. So while there is a whole new system to gain points in, there is no actual new content to earn the points within, and with the exception of PVP they made it harder to gain. No worries tho, you can sub for an extra 10% and soon buy XP pots ;)
If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

So, could you guys tell me about the Champion system? I'm basically new to this and all I know is that it... well I hope I ain't wrong but you can increase your Health/Stamina/Magicka as you could up until lv 50, right?

I'll take the horse question and let someone more into numbers handle the Champion thing.

Horses are now just skins, found in your collection tab and can be activated on your characters through that.
All mounts are now equal in stats. You train each individual characters Riding Skill at the stablemasters. Those riding skills now go up to 60 each, so back to the daily stable visits for you!
(you do get to keep whatever levels of training each character already had before the change, but there are no longer any bonuses for the different mounts)

One more thing about horses. When you get a horse that horse is available to all the characters on the account. The skill, as stated before, is character based not horse based. So train up your character's riding skill. :)

    No new content.

Most people who bought console can't login.

Exploits in PvP are rampant and no action is being taken by ZoS. Most exploits are going unchecked.

I can't say for sure what has changed since December, but I can tell you what I've seen.

I returned when the game went subscriptionless. I had stopped playing around the same time you did, in the sense that I had logged in to talk to someone a few times but did nothing, so it shouldn't really count. Before that, I had stopped playing around September. So a lot had changed. They had introduced the Justice System and the stealing, et al inherent therein. They stopped new characters beginning on the starter islands (which I STILL say is a mistake, even stupid.) They changed the beginning sequence of the game, in Coldharbour. Like, a lot. Hell, that poor Argonian guy's existence is now totally superfluous. And there's no random junk on the floor of your cell. And you don't even choose a weapon any more. It's pretty much "Hey I'm Lyris for no reason" and proceeding to put all your faith in an enormous woman and a former Minister of Silly Walks. Not to mention an elderly muppet in a bubble. They changed all that too - no more Prophet Under Glass, just a whole new room and a switcheroo that leaves you wondering what the hell happened more than a styrofoam cup shell game on 42nd Street. Other than that, the beginning moves a lot smoother. I think they removed the feral husks too, or I just magically did not happen upon any. tl;dr starting Coldharbour is Nerf or Nothing.

They made UI improvements. Camera customization (pc) is a lot more user-friendly. Not just the ability to properly adjust the field of view for both 3rd person and first person FOVs (independently), but camera offset / adjustment. I wish they'd do that on Xbox too, I hate playing slightly to the left. There's gotta be a metaphor in there somewhere.

Lots of bugfixes. Lots of adjustments, such as increasing / normalizing container spawns in Dwemer ruins. Likely because Avanchnzel was over-farmed for Dwemer motifs. And if you didn't know about that, there's a Dwemer motif, divided into chapters for each individual item, or one extremely rare drop of the entire book. There's also several new sets of armor available in Craglorn and Cyrodiil. They made aesthetic changes to armors. The Undaunted aren't just barflies arrogantly demanding tasty beverages anymore. They have an enclave outside of [insert relative alliance capitol city here.] There you can pledge (accept quests) to do a daily dungeon, one for normal dungeons and one for veteran dungeons. Completing the pledges rewards you keys - bronze, silver, gold - that are used on respective chests that provide random loot pertaining to the key quality. You get bronze for completing a normal dungeon, silver for completing veteran. If you complete bonus objectives, it will "upgrade" your reward key to the next tier - bronze becomes silver, silver becomes gold. There are Undaunted set items that can be awarded, but usually I just get blue or purple ornate disappointment.

I hope I provided some info you didn't already know. And I'm positive there are many more things that are new or have changed that I haven't mentioned. Overall, ESO has become better in my opinion.

    And welcome back.
