Medium Armor help

Can someone please help get me started on how to do clothier and my goal is medium armor.Ive gathered materials and even research something and put a point in keen eye and I'm level 7 but I'm still unable to make anything. I've looked at a lot of guides but they seem like they are for people who know what they are doing. I just need to be pointed in the right direction and Im sure I can take it from there. THANKS!!!

You need to refine your "raw" material, have a style stone example" redguard", that is it. Are you crafting in town or at a set station in the wilderness?

Read the book "A Clothier Primer", usually found near Clothier shops and stations. If not, just ask the clothier directly. I'm level 7 as well and I made myself an almost-full set of Redguard Rawhide Armor. My next steps are improving my armor, just need to Deconstruct some clothing to get me some hemmings.

Thanks for the help. I'm a imperial and I'm crafting in town. I know I've taken some rawhide scraps and made raw hide if that's refine or not

1, gather rawhide scraps. They drop from mudcrabs found on shores, for example.
2, find a clothing station. usually near all other crafting stations, in the local town(has a scissors plaque next to it).
3, at the station, refine rawhide scraps into rawhide leather. you need at least 10 raw for the refine, and you want more than that so you have enough refined for your items.
4, craft your item at the same station where you refined. you need a certain amount of refined leather, and a 'style gem'. The latter is sold by a merchant usually standing next to the craftion station, and determines the looks of your item. Note that you by default only know one racial style(your own), so you need to buy the style gem of your own race. For example a redguard would need to buy starmetal.

Thanks I think that's what I'm missing is the style gem I didn't know it had to be bought and I don't even think I've seen it in a store but I will look harder when I get on next. I know it's easy once you learn it just more stuff than any of the other elder scroll games I've played. At least there are helpful people who will answer the dumb questions so thanks

The style stones can be purchased from a clothier, blacksmith or woodworker NPC. They are usually by the tables/anvils. You really only need 2 things to be able to craft things, refined material and a style stone. You can leave the Trait at the bottom blank until you have researched traits to use. When you take scraps and turn them into a Hide of some sort, that is refining.

You mentioned that you are an Imperial, so you will need nickel for your style stone. These can be purchased for 15g from either a clothier, woodworker, or blacksmith, who are usually hanging around the crafting stations in towns.

Do the Crafting quests. You can find them in the starting town. Usually in the Mages Guild hall there is a guy that will help you get started with crafting by giving you a quest. He will even give you the mats or show on your map where to harvest, etc... It will help you get a feel for how to craft.

Thanks to everyone who helped I have the hang of it now and it was the nickle stone that was holding me back I wasn't use to having race stones to make armor.
