Stealing with disguise

Wondering what happens? Do they not recognize you then? Or do they still know you are wanted?

That's a good question.

Although knowing ESO, I assume it's a "Still know you, you are wanted" kind of thing.

They know it's you and guards will still react accordingly. Costumes are more fluff outside of certain questlines, they have no bearing on pickpocketing and whatnot.

As the disguise just deaggros a faction, you would likely still be arrested on spot. Would be nice, though.

Reminds me of how thievery worked in Ultima Online. Consuming a disguise kit would change your appearance and name and not until you got caught committing a crime would it reset, allowed thiefs to remain unrecognised by their former victims.

When the Thieves Guild gets put into the game it would be a good idea for a guild skill. Each rank you have of Disguise gives you a certain percentage chance that if you're spotted stealing or killing an innocent you won't get a bounty because they don't know it's you.
