In the opening area if you explore the town you will find a "Crafting Writ" notice on a bulliten board.
Reading this will open up the quests for crafting which give you an intro to crafting and access to the "daily crafting tasks".
Don't expect to be flying through crafting and be sat on a license to mint gold coin and buy yourself the moon on a stick.
It's been designed to be a slow, steady process.
You can make yourself health potions early on and don't discount the other crafting skills either.0
