All of the general discussion is filled with console players because they console mega servers are crashing. They were not prepared for the volume of players.

Currently the console players don't have a text based chat feature, so it's all voice based. This has caused quite a bit of strife but there are several threads out there with interesting suggestions and more information about the topic in question.

The game launched on console a couple days ago. When justice & champion launched, the general forums became the justice & champion forums. When the crown store launched, the general forums became the crown store forums.

When Imperial City launches, the general forums will become the Imperial City discussion. When Wrothgar launches, the general forums will become Wrothgar discussion.

I don't understand how someone can be so dense and feel so entitled that it makes them entirely oblivious to reality.

The relevant difference between consoles and PCs is almost entirely firmware. Consoles are basically laptops with severely strict firmware and an assanine software control. ( For which they will ban you for violating.) Really the only way they sell them is through mass marketing, peer pressure, group dynamics, and sensationalism.
But guess what? There are thousands of PC players clicking on a d@mn overinflated ad campaign right now because Gabe Newell said so. So we aren't that different.

BTW, Steam machines are computers. Consoles are computers. The difference is what's inside.

There is also the notion of cost. I buy a ps4 for a few hundred bucks for the specific purpose of playing games. If I am buying a computer, or even a laptop, specifically for gaming I would be looking at spending quite a bit more money.



On a side note I am really curious about this us vs them dynamic. Does this PC vs Console war unite PC and Mac vs PS4 and Xbone or is this a 4 way battle royale. Are PC and Xbone groups on friendly terms because both are Microsoft?

Economics is perhaps the weakest argument of all. If you've bought 10 new games in the last year, and I mean new games as in new off the shelf, you've spent more on games that I've spent in the last 5 years. It's true, you'll spend more on the initial investment on a machine. But I will not have to buy a new machine when new games come out for the next generation if I upgrade within the next 3 years. And the cost of me upgrading my machine will be less than what you will pay for a new machine. Plus, I will still have all of my old games and I won't have to buy any new equipment.

ZeniMax are quite secretive when it comes to numbers and figures, so I wouldn't hold your breath sort of thing. For sure, this is the section for general discussions related to ESO, however there have been quite a few posts which are better suited in other sub categories which has created quite a few repeating threads.

Gotta give these console peeps a bit of a break. The only thing most of them are used to searching for on the Internet are Cheat Codes and Walkthroughs and ESO has none.

Thats what they tell you. I fact, if you spend much more on a gaming pc, when on a console, you have a PC that can be used for gaming for some years, and its upgrades are a lot cheaper when your next console (which you _have_ to buy when, while one can play new games on older PC on lower graphics).

And: Our games are cheaper, even if we ignore Steams Sales or the Humble Bundle.

The questions are the same questions that were ignorantly asked by PC players themselves before. So please stop acting as if because its Console players asking those questions now that its suddenly "different".

Except that it is "different". When PC players asked those questions a year ago, there wasn't the depth of available information in terms of old forum threads, blogs, videos and guides. PC players asked those questions on the forums because, quite often, nobody was certain of the answer yet (even Beta players).

This is different because, one year on, there are threads on this forum (and a search function to help people find them) that may answer many of the queries (Justice system, Crafting etc.) that are currently being posted to General. Some of these aren't even questions that should be on General but should be in the designated Support forums, although the mods seem to be on top of moving most of these now. That said, some queries are new and interesting and should indeed be in GD. I don't think this is true in the majority of cases however.

The reason people believe it is different this time is because it is different. It is a year later and times have moved on.

What intrigues me is that some people seem to have not realised that a forum search will get them an answer to their question faster than, for example, starting an entirely new thread on the subject and waiting for other players or mods to answer it for them.

Or...maybe Console players are just trying to talk to other "first-time-in-ESO" Console players...the game does "play" differently on Console rather than PC due to controllers and UI.
I think the Devs should have just opened a new forum for Consoles as soon as they announced ESO was coming to them.
