RazzPitazz✭✭✭✭Because that's the only option atm. On behalf of the PC community we know, and we sympathize.
When you hit level 50 you actually go into Veteran Ranks (1-14). After finishing the main quest it actually continues into Cadwells Silver which brings you to the beggining zone of the next faction. After you complete the main faction quests there you will then begin Cadwell's Gold which takes you to the final faction. This is currently the only way one character can travel to all three factions.Lol, wut?

So you are asking why should you have to do it on your alts? Well, why should you have to do any zones on your alts when you do them all on your main?
They decided they wanted characters to have to play all 3 zones and made max level high enough to force people there. They also decided to scatter lore books and skyshards all over, adding exploration incentives even for those who grind mobs to level. It makes leveling alts tedious for those who have been playing for a year and have done all the content with their DK, NB and Sorc and decided they also want a Templar. But that is how the game works. Find for that first character, tedious for the 3rd, especially once I've leveled all my class skills and there is nothing new to experience.
I can imagine how tedious alts would be on a console without a skyshard and lore book addon.0
