Important: Clear your console cache. Potential cause of console bugs.

Hello all,

Like most of you console players I spent the better part of this afternoon/evening not being able to play. When I started having problems after the "server reset" and couldn't do anything due to half the NPCs missing I decided to try something different. I'm not much of a computer guy, but I've read things in the past where having a full memory cache can cause problems for games that don't manage said cache correctly. I cleared the cache on my PS4 by fully turning it off for 10 minutes (this can be done on Xbox by turning it off, waiting a minute, and then unplugging the power brick from the console for ~10 minutes). Upon start up I had 1 issue with queuing, did an app reset, and it worked completely fine 100% without queuing before logging in. All my NPCs were back, and all my load times fixed.

I don't know if this will work for everyone, but hopefully Zos sees this and it potentially helps.

Thank you for your time.

Edit: found edit:
A) turn it completely off, not rest.

B)this would explain why resets aren't helping because, based off what I've read, the cache isn't cleared when resetting.

Didn't see an edit button on my phone. I put this in general discussion for hopefully better viewing and to potentially get some of the more knowledgeable PC guys to chime in on feasibility of problem/solution.

I do believe Skyrims console launch also had a cache related bug IIRC

PC players: does it make sense that this would help?
Zos: perhaps add this to your list of things to try?

    Careful bumping. Against forum rules.

PC player (and PS4) but don't know much about console. Seems legit, but no idea.

As for editing posts. To edit a regular post in a thread, it will appear on the top right corner as a little cog wheel. On mobile (android), it appears when I tap the post.

For the first post in a thread (when you make a new thread) the cog wheel is to the right of the thread title (not in your first post like normal)

Thank you for pointing that out. I posted this last night when most NA users would be offline, and I was hopping to get it back in view once now that NA would be active again. I haven't seen this potential fix anywhere. Zos reccomends a console reset, but, as I said, that won't clear the cache on either console.

The edit button is the little gear in the upper right as shown in the pic below. When viewing on a phone, you may have to tap the middle of the post or upper right corner to make it show up. When on a PC, you just mouseover your own post to see make the gear pop up. :)

Thanks for the help guys. It was the cog wheel outside of the original post I couldn't find, didn't make sense to me to not have the edit feature within the post.

    I got it now though.

Additionally, there are other, more constructive methods of bumping a thread. Like this right here! ;)

Indeed. Thanks for the info about editing posts. Hopefully someone finds my original info and it helps them out.

I've had zero issues since clearing my cache last night. Logged in more than 10 hours with no problems, and about 7-8 log ins without a queue.

    So.... ?
