making weapons

Hi I'm trying to make weapons at the blacksmith and i have iron ore and stuff but when i go to creation all the weapons are red and it won't let me choose one to make why is this ? do i have to learn how to or something any help would be awesome

You need two things:

- You need to refine your ore into ingots at the crafting station and you'll need enough ingots for whatever you want to craft.
- You need racial style mats for your race. For example, a Bosmer would need 1 Bone per crafted item.

you have to refine your ore first. it takes stacks of ten. after you get a few ingots, you should be able to craft.

i have 42 ingots also have the materials for the style but it all still comes up at red ? do i have to learn or something ?

What level are you? If you're at least level 6 I recommend you go to the fighters guild in your alliance's first major city, and talk to Millenith. She'll give you crafting certification quests (one each for blacksmithing, woodworking, and clothing - there's an NPC in the mages guild who will give you quests for alchemy, enchanting, and provisioning), which walk you through pretty much everything you need to know in order to be a crafter. They also give you a little bit of gold and XP, along with inspiration to level the crafting skill you're doing the quest for.

Is the style your own race or a different race? If it's NOT your own race, you need to learn that style first by finding (or buying) and reading a style motif book. You can always craft in your own race style immediately.

yeah i have a moonstones and the ingots but when I'm at the table the top row is red ?

i have the iron ore and i have the moonstone i need also but why is the top row red I'm sure its something so simple I'm not doing I've been googling and looking everywhere for an answer

Wait... where are you trying to craft? Are you at a crafting station in a town, or are you at one you found in the wilderness? The ones you find in the wilderness are places that let you craft special set items, but in order to craft those you have to have researched a certain number of traits (anywhere from 2-9 traits depending on the set) for the item in order to craft it.

Just to be sure, you have iron ore? Or iron ingots after refining ore at the crafting station?

You just need ingots and a racial material that you already know (your own race). Can you post a screenshot of your crafting screen? You might just have something set wrong.
